We booked this cruise for 3 reasons, we love cruising from San Juan, we loved the itinerary and previous experience on the ship.
The ship is showing its age but crew were constantly sprucing her up, the crew onboard is very good, usually smiling and ready to assist.
We had cabin 7429, an extended balcony aft cabin and loved it, the cabin steward was rarely seen but our room was very well attended.
We chose my time dining and ate dinner in the MDR every night , service was good but the crew seemed rushed and didn't seem to be as friendly as they have been with assigned dining. Food quality was disappointing and is one place carnivals cutbacks show through. We've loved carnivals meals in the past, and in fact on this same ship but this time a number of things were just horrible for example, Fatty Filet mignon? Who woulda thunk it?
The Buffet was typically boring and bland as well and the lines of people waiting have gotten ridiculous.
The dancing waiter More
thing has run its course with us as well, it was neat once but now it just holds up dinner while it appears from facial expressions the waiters must perform like it or not.
The Deli on the port side of the lido ROCKS!!!!!!!
Comedy shows were outstanding and plentiful, variety shows were typical cruise fare but come on carnival wheres the decent live music? A guy with a guitar backed by a computer doesn't cut it, what about some Caribbean music on deck? We get on board and lay by the pool listening to piped in Fergie and Bon Jovi, so much for that Caribbean feeling eh?
Seaside theatre played outdated movies but do also play NFL games.
Bottom line, having sailed a number of cruise lines and 4 cruises with carnival we're throwing in the towel with carnival!! The fares are low for a reason folks. I'll gladly pay a few hundred more for a better experience so were sending our message with our wallet and finally going elsewhere to cruise next time. Less
