A dream come true to Iceland and Norway

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Baltic & Northern Europe
Embarkation: Copenhagen

Before I begin, I want to thank our dear friends, Heinbloed (Tien) and Bruno for taking care of us "2 old people". Without them we wouldn't have seen as many interesting and beautiful nature. Heinbloed had planned all of our excursion.

The day before we embarked on the cruise, they took us by rental car to the Kronborg castle, Karen Blixen's museum and just to see the outside of the Louisiana since we didn't have time for we had a dinner engagement with his wonderful Danish friends at the Humblebaek restaurant.

Thanks to Bon V., Ana H., Richard J. and David C. for making this cruise special and also to the waiters and waitresses which I can't name everyone....Eddy and Franjaya from last year's transatlantic and to have a reunion with Lito who we met on the DREAM many years ago. Of course, our room stewardess, Fatima.

We had complimentary dinners to the specialty restaurants, dining at Le Bistro, the Italian restaurant and Moderno.

BERGEN: my husband More and I took the Norway in a Nutshell by ourselves by train, bus, cruising the Naerayfjord, a UNESCO site, the Flam train and back to Bergen by train. Am glad we did this instead of just staying in Bergen since our friends have already been on this and wanted us to go by our selves.

Aalesund: we took a special excursion with Hurtigruten's Midnatsol ship to the Hjorundfjord which was to us a once in a lifetime experience and later on to Mt. Aksla before boarding the SUN.

LERWICK: We had a rental car and went on a scenic drive and later ate at Monty's restaurant. The Thai tomato soup and fresh bread were very delicious.

TORSHAVN: It is a beautiful scenic drive to Vestmanna where we boarded a boat to see the bird cliffs. It was nice, even if we didn't see any Puffins.

REYKJAVIK: we did the Golden Ring excursion with Iceland Horizon by public transportation. While in Iceland, we did a helicopter tour to the thermal where we landed and took a walking tour with our pilot. We are so happy that we did this helicopter tour. It was expensive but we divided the cost among the 4 of us. Also did the Blue Lagoon.

GLASGOW: we had a rented car and went to the Royal Yacht Britannia, took a drive through Loch Lomond and we also had dinner with their wonderful Scottish friends.

DUBLIN: our taxi driver was very good. He showed us the sites in Dublin and told us about what we were seeing. We went to the Powerscourt Gardens in Enniskerry which was very beautiful. Our driver was kind to show us where the ATM machine was so we could withdraw euros. Later on, we ate at the Wicklow Heather Restaurand....I highly recommend the Corn Beef dish. I wish I had ordered it because it was soft and delicious. Our last stop was the Glendlough Settlement.

COPENHAGEN: a van at the dock took us to the airport for 280 DKK.

The SUN has an excellent crew and the ports were marvelous. We are very happy with all what we did with our friends and also new friends. Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Sun 8205

Originally, we had an inside on deck 8 and liked it very much because there were lots of closet space. We were upgraded and the closet space was small. Our stateroom had the large window. It was close to the fitness center, 3 decks up but further from the dining area and the Stardust. The walking was good for us.
