We are a couple with two boys ages 13 and 15. There was plenty to keep us busy on this cruise. The food was very good- excellent including the buffet. We loved O’Sheehans restaurant that was open 24 hrs, as we are a family of night hawks, lol. The boys looked forward to late night wings and nachos and we really miss it now that we are home. We really liked the Freestyle dining and not rushing to have to be at dinner at a certain time. We had a balcony cabin and it was very clean and nice. Embarkation was very efficient despite a coast guard inspection and everyone being asked to board between 12 and 3. Disembarkation was tricky because a storm damaged the link that we were supposed to use to disembark but Norwegian problem solved efficiently and all was good. The Choir of a man show was really excellent entertainment! The comedy shows were also very good. Our family had a great vacation and would definitely go again. If there was something that I wished were different, I wish that the wifi/internet was not so expensive. Read Less

I chose this cruise since it was close to my port. We arrived at the port and hadabsolutely no waiting at all (we have sailed with Norwegian many times are wererewarded for loyalty). We feel they take care of their loyal customers in severalways. We had many great meals especially Cagneys which is our favorite (Steak and Lobster) how can you go wrong. We also like the Manhattan Room which is not a Specialty restaurant (Very Goodfood) and has entertainment oncertain days. Our Room was great it had a great view and oodles of storage for the two of us. It was a family oceanview room with a large window. Our room steward couldnt have been better Casino was hopping every nite and we saw a lot of big winners. We saw two shows which were very entertaining. Our favorite stop on our cruise wasGreat Stirrup Kay - Huge barbeque with various bq food just steps away from yourlounge chairs. Water is clear and just right for Snorkling. Read Less

I wanted to go on a cruise which had a lot of activities for my 7 year old. I choose Norwegian escape because it has a water park, mini golf and rope course. My son absolutely loved the rope course which has two zip lining circuits as well. We as a family enjoyed the rope course which is quite adventures and the water slides. They are other sport activities like bonce ball ,ping pong, soccer and basketball courts which will keep you busy and active. I loved the food court which had all the food varieties that I could thing off. They were ample options for vegetarians like us which was amazing. I am an Indian and I was pleasantly surprised to see an asian food counter which yummy Indian curries and rice. Also there was an Oriental festival which yummy sushi. I loved the broadway musical show too. The staff was very friendly and prompt and housekeeping was really good. Read Less

4200 cruisers and 1700 staff. Like being stuck in NYC. We waited in lines all week for elevators, excursions, drinks, dinner. You could not get into buffet and find a table or a chair at the poll. Taste & Savor had horrible service with buffet quality food. I can say the Manhattan room was best dinner on board. Great Stirrup Cay Island was so crowded with 2 other ships there you could barely get in water in the designated swim areas. Most non relaxing vacation I have ever had. Bahamas was nice but it took long to get there only giving us 4 hours at the Blue Lagoon. Disembarking was a nightmare and we had to walk down 4 flights with all our luggage to get in line as there was no elevators available. We walked more stairs all week and I am a cardiac patient. I will never cruise again Read Less

My husband and i have cruised 7 times, including this cruise, with 3 of those on the norwegian gem and 1 time on the breakaway. We really love norwegian for the freestyle cruising and i feel like we get the most out of our money with them. The escape was the biggest ship we’ve been on and it was really nice. However, it might be because its so large that getting on and off took forever at both departure and the ports of call. We were also traveling with our toddler and spent prob 10+ hours during our cruise waiting to get on and off the ship while anxiously trying to keep him from having a meltdown on the ship- not fun. Embarkation was truly horrendous. There was some kind of issue and they made us wait in line for close to 2 hours. My son was screaming the whole time while we tried everything to quiet him and by the time we were getting on the ship i was close to tears. They do have a nursery with drop off available for babies up to 3, and the nursery attendants were really good with kids but if your kids cry for more than 10 mins (which is likely when theyre left with strangers), they buzz you on a beeper to come pick them up. Our son did well the first 2 times and the last 3 times we did a drop off to have dinner we got called back 10 mins later. Not their fault of course and im glad they told me instead of just letting him cry, and again, they were absolute sweethearts, but next time we will prob be bringing family to help watch our kids. The playroom for babies is only available for 2 hours a day on sea days, plus two 30 minute hosted activities where parents joined, so the other 10+ hours a day were spent either in our stateroom or chasing after our toddler while he ran around bumping into people. Oh and there were NO cartoon channels in the room. It was only one channel with tv shows that played randomly. Most other cruises weve been on had the food network, cartoons, hgtv, etc. We paid extra for a family mini suite which had a bath tub and that def helped a lot. But It felt like there was no where for us to go most of the days at sea but the arcade where we ended up spending $400 keeping our 22 mo old entertained. The best time we had was when we stopped at disney. This trip made me reconsider cruising with young kids. I think next time i might just go straight to disney and stay at a resprt or try a disney cruise, which might be more family friendly. Also we chose free wifi as one of our free promotional optio s but it never worked for us and i was too exhausted to figure out what was wrong. Outside of those annoyances, it was overall still a pleasant cruise. One of the times our son did okay at the daycare we were able to enjoy a nice dinner at moderno, one of their nicer restaurants. And norwegian ships are really beautiful and spacious. It wouldve been 100 times more pleasant traveling without a kid and a lot of the gripes i had would be nonexistent. Read Less

We had an amazing time! Awesome cabin steward, room was very spacious although the sofa/bed where my son slept was not so comfortable--we didn't know until late in the week to ask the steward for something to help (our first cruise). Food was wonderful, private island was fun. Pool was too small and too crowded. There were actually 2 pools, one was designated for adults only and the child friendly pool was full of 4 and 5 year olds--no fun for my 14 year old. Good news is the water slides were fun and he LOVED the basketball court!! There was more than enough activities on board (we did not partake in some) and the shows were fantastic!!! My son loved the comedians--and most were family friendly! My biggest complaint is the awful dirty ashtray smell from the casino. It was gross and unavoidable. Not sure why they still allow smoking on board, kind of nerve wracking since we were in the middle of the ocean and God forbid there was a fire. We are excited for cruise # 2 next year! We always cruise out of NYC, I cannot fly and the Port in NYC is fantastic. The pierside team was very helpful and the Port manager Kenny could not have been any more helpful. We arrived a little before 10:00 and were onboard by 11:00. This was our 7th cruise with NCL and 2nd on the Escape. We sailed one previous cruise with another line and were less than pleased almost to the point of not wanting to cruise again.      We sailed this past July and had a great time. We went to the CC meet and greet, and had the opportunity to meet some of the executive staff. We booked this trip, with 4 other families and there was a total of 15. We bid on the Haven upgrade and were successful. Since sailing in July and having made friends with the restaurant manager Mr. Melroy, we have stayed in contact and were happy to see him back. From day one he took care of the entire group. He was an absolute blessing for a large group.      This is our third NCL ship and by far the best, the Haven was as expected, nothing short of perfect. The concierge Adrian was spot on every time, the Butler Christopher took great care of us and the kids loved him. Dennis our room Stewart was also fantastic, always interested in our day and making sure we had a great time.  The haven family two bedroom worked perfect.  The kids had there own space and bathroom. Even with some of there friends watching a movie they were never under foot. Ample storage space for the Mrs's and my suit case fit perfect under the bed Read Less

I have always been hesitant of taking a cruise, but I am so happy I finally did and I am glad I did so by traveling with the Norwegian family. Everyone on the boat seemed as if they were handpicked, from the people checking us in to the person taking care of our room to the bar tenders, waiters and captain, etc... super nice people always caring for us. The rooms were wonderful, comfortable beds and the food was fabulous from the buffet to the restaurants. So much to do on board, music and activities for all of all ages, my son loved the teen center, made friends that i feel will last a lifetime. Super elegant decor... The favorite part of my day was waking up and having my morning coffee on my balcony and looking out at the sea... breathtaking. I will definitely be back to spend time with our Norwegian family :) i do have one complaint which was the disembarkation... it took way too long and very unorganized, it stressed ever one out after such a stress free week. Sailed with NCL Escape on April 7,19 out of New York for the first time having done a few with NCL and other cruise lines before. It was one of our greatest sailings ever. We got a very nice large balcony cabin 8138, with two sunbathing beds, tables and chairs. Our cabin steward was beyond awesome and friendly. At the restaurants, prior to making an order, the waitresses always asked about any food allergies you may have to have, and we really appreciate for doing that. I celebrated my Birthday during the sailing and must to say, that the attention of our cruise director Kivanc and his assistant Danielle made our sailing spectacular above and beyond all expectations. Thank you very much for everything! While I have been on other Norwegian ships and enjoyed them, I would probably do another cruise on the Escape. However couple things have to be improved: the variety of the night shows, and next cruise booking for Canadian guests (No Canadian dollar bookings on the CruiseNext Desk). I would like to thank Marthinus for all the help and support he provided. For the people who are planning to park their car at the port, be aware that the price per day is $40.00US. https://www.nycruise.com/manhattan-terminal/parking/ Read Less

We have cruised NCL many times and have always found the ships and staff to be extremely attentive to our every needs. This cruise was so special: with our children and grandchildren to celebrate my retirement and also my granddaughter's 6th birthday . Our first cruise with all 9 of us. The grandchildren (ages, 4, 4.5, 5.5) had a grand time in Spash Academy. They even put on a production in the large theater. The meals were terrific. We were invited to a special cocktail party with the Captain and Staff. Wonderful evening!! They heard about our celebrations and sent snacks, chocolate covered strawberries, Prosecco, Wine to our three cabins! They even decorated my granddaughter's cabin and my cabin by surprise for our celebrations! The staff, especially Kivanc Ucar, Hotel Director, Melroy Rebeiro, restaurant manager, and Danielle Reyes, hotel director secretary were so attentive to our every need. It was definitely a family cruise to remember forever! Read Less

I branched out from Royal to give Norwegian a try. I have cruised the last four with Royal and to say it bluntly I will never book with Norwegian. I am not a hard person to please in all reality just want to be able to relax and enjoy my vacation . This was anything but relaxing in fact this was a boring vacation and I could not wait to get off this ship. The positives I will say were our room steward and the embarkation process. The rest will not be put into the positive category. The beds were hard as a piece of plywood even with the "egg crate" on top. My four year old who can sleep pretty much anywhere said she did not get a "good sleep" and her body hurt. The bathroom was okay on the smaller side but it worked for a shower and a toilet. The balcony was very nice although we smelt cigarettes and pot being smoked almost every night. Which to each their own but I don't want my child smelling it. Maybe they needed it to fall asleep on those beds. We ventured out down to the main dining room after we got on the ship and the service was very good that time but after that the service went downhill with a few blips of good service here and there and some very nice waiters/waitresses that we left "hero" cards for because they deserved to be recognized. Things were often forgotten and took another 15-20 minutes to get and the meal was almost over by the time it came if it ever came, We asked for coffee with dessert each lunch and dinner and two out of three times we either never got it or had to ask a second a third time. The food was great the first few days then seemed to be "okay" and luke warm. The pools were nothing to be impressed with the main pool was small and the kids area was cramped . There was a waterside for the kids which was a nice amenity for the smaller children. My four year old daughter participated in the Splash Academy for kids she loved it for the first couple days then she didn't want to go anymore. That was probably more because she got to swim in the pool and thought she was going to be missing out if she was there and not with my sister-in-law and I. Speaking of my sister in law this was her 40th birthday gift and her first ever cruise I am sorry to say that she was not even impressed and as a first cruise you should always be excited and loving every minute of it. The boat itself was very noisy with the shuttering of the motors and rough waters (which I know is not the cruise lines fault) We could not go to Great Stirrup Cay which was a HUGE disappointment for us so instead of having the beach day where there are chairs and beaches they went straight to the Bahamas port. Our day out at the beach was about $120.00 between chair rental and taxi's. Which we probably would not have done if we did GSC. I had a hard time finding thinks for my daughter to do unless she was in the kids club or the pool or in the overpriced arcade. So we basically wandered around the shops and the atrium area and in our room. The TV channels were less then desired too the Guy Harvey Channel is great but it was all repeats after awhile. The favorite channels and movie channels had such long breaks between shows it was unreal to believe. Disembarkation was an ABSOULTE Nightmare.. no sense of order to anything .. People were ripping there color tags off and getting back in line and sneaking though while we waited our turns for the color tags we went and got the night before as we were instructed to. I guess to some it doesn't matter that there was a process to this. There were 5 customs agents open which didnt help matters for 4000 people trying to get off a ship. I wish this was a better experience I like having options when going out of NY / NJ area ports. Read Less

I didn’t choose this cruise it chose us. Based on my availability and the itinerary and we wanted to give NCL another go, the Escape was our only option. The specialty dining was Disappointing to amazing. LaCucina was terribly disappointing from the waiter to the food selection the temp of the food to taste. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t eat their again, was a waste of a specialty dinning. Bayamo was better with a good menu a knowledgeable staff and great tasting food. Would recommend and would choose it again. Cagneys.....excellent from the second you walk in, great menu, knowledgeable staff with good recommendations, food was hot, delicious and left full! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HAVEN.....our concierge (Adrian) was by far the best that the NCL team has to offer. 19 years with NCL and it shows. Was super knowledgeable about everything and I mean everything from the ship, to the shops, to the entertainment, to excursions. He was friendly, fun, social, sweet, helpful, accommodating and got to know our entire party (14 of us) Haven or not. I would choose another NCL cruise to wherever he was concierge simply to cruise with him again. Our Housekeeper (Gina) was my next favorite thing about our cruise. She was a doll, another over the top, go out of her way NCL A+ staff personnel. She couldn’t do enough for our entire party as they all came to our Haven suite often. She was beyond sweet and helpful. Friendly, caring and accommodating. She saw to us like a friend.and I cannot say enough about her. The two of them made the price of the Haven suite otherwise worth the money. The cruise itself nice. Didn’t get to see great stirrup Cay for the second year in a row, beginning to think it’s a non stop on this itinerary. The rest of the cruise, food was good, service was good accommodations were nice entertainment was ok. The magician was terrific. Other than that it was a “good “ cruise. Not terrific, I wouldn’t do it again. Hoping that the staff we got attached to goes to another destination that we like and than we would cruise NCL again. Read Less

I have always cruised NCL and wanted to treat my daughter and grandson to an awesome experience. Prior to this The largest NCL ship I had traveled on was the Breakaway, The Escape is just a larger version of the BA. Unfortunately, as with all NCL ships the pool areas are still small and seating in those areas is difficult. In addition, the "casino Smoke" situation is the same if not worse. I still love NCL for all its' other attributes. Fantastic food, best crew and staff on the ocean, entertainment, and always lively and fun. The itinerary for this cruise is my least favorite but it worked for the time my grandson was able to miss school. Port Canaveral had a new excursion listed this time called ICON Park. I highly recommend this trip. Perfect day off the ship, not rushed, and relatively reasonable. In Nassau we did Blue Lagoon Island which I have done many times before. It keeps getting bigger and better. Absolutely excellent excursion and something for everyone. Read Less

We were on the ship in less than 45 minutes. We were in a 2 bedroom villa, room was beautiful, clean. Chris our butler helped us unpack right away and we were off having a drink and lunch before 1:00pm! The shows were great especially Choir of man! Unbelievable talent. After Midnight was very good also. Plenty of activities if you want, plenty of quite also. Therma Spa was nice and relaxing. Gym had plenty of equipment. Slides are fun... This was a spring break cruise for our family traveling with elementary aged kids. They were not too impressed with the kids club or kids activities because of the restricted hours of operation for splash academy and the organization of activities in the Club (games when you were “out” you had to sit and wait with nothing to do). We were also not very happy with the food in the main dining and especially the buffet. The variety was limited and the layout was too large to fill a plate of food before it got cold. In main dining, service was a bit slow as well and we could not expect to spend less than 2 hours over dinner. The ship was nice and new and seemed to have many options for everyone. However, 2 in my immediate family and 2 in extended family got food poisoning, or stomach illness on second to last day on board. Also eye infection. So although things looked clean, common areas may have needed a bit more attention. It did not feel too crowded even though we had a full boat, so that was nice. And our rooms were comfortable and a relaxing retreat. Embarkation was smooth and faster than anticipated, and debarkation was not too bad either. Overall, we would probably consider a cruise in Norwegian Escape again, however, not until both children are over the age of 13. Read Less

This was our 8th NCL cruise, but first time staying in The Haven. We choseThe Haven to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. Usually we stay in a balcony, so this was a splurge for us. Unfortunately we are now spoiled! The Haven is worth every extra penny that it costs. Just to list a few perks of The Haven: - At embarkation, our concierge was waiting in a special lounge to escort us on to the ship. We were among the first to get on the ship. We were offered burger sliders for lunch as well as a special lunch in La Cucina. - Our butler brought snacks every afternoon: a plate of cookies for my son, finger sandwiches for me and something sweet for my husband. - The pool in The Haven can get a little loud and the hot tubs can be taken over by children. However, there is an adults only sun deck with a Jacuzzi that was absolutely perfect. An attendant regularly brought drinks and checked to see if there was anything we needed. We were going to buy Vibe passes, but are so glad we didn't. It would have been a waste as everything we needed was in The Haven. - THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO CHAIR HOGGING. My husband can't stand this and it's one of the main reasons we chose The Haven. The Haven was completely sold out for our sailing, so there were a lot of people. But always plenty of space wherever you wanted to sit. - The bartender in The Haven was phenomenal! He could make anything!! And he really tried to understand your tastes and mood, so he could make the perfect cocktail just for you. He was always very accommodating and patient with all the children wanting specialty drinks. He was a saint! - There was reserved seating in the theater for The Haven. My son showed up 5 minutes before The Choir of Man and was seated right away. - Unlimited free Pay Per View Movies in the room - You have a walky-talky phone that you can take with you anywhere on the ship, and anyone can just call your room to reach you. In hindsight, we probably didn't need the communication package because of this. - Disembarkation took less than 5 minutes. We were escorted by our concierge to a crew elevator from The Haven lounge that went directly to the gangway. Our concierge held the line so that we could walk directly off the ship. I could go on and on about The Haven. NCL works really hard to make this a special experience. I know everyone can't afford to stay there (I know we can't for every cruise!), but hopefully this gives some insight if you're considering The Haven. Now I want to give some opinions about the other parts of the ship. As I mentioned this was our 8th cruise with NCL. I have also sailed with Carnival twice. IMHO Carnival has a better kids program. My son is 12. On NCL, he is grouped with 10-12. He absolutely refused to go to the kids club based on these ages. Why would a middle schooler want to be with elementary aged children? NCL then groups 13-17 together. Again IMHO, 13 is way to young to be hanging around with a 17 year old. On Carnival, the age groupings are much more appropriate. They group 12-14 and then 15-17. These ages can come and go from the program as they please on Carnival. On NCL, a 12 year old can leave on their own only after staying 2 hours. My son has still stayed in contact with friends that he met on the Carnival ships in their youth programs from over a year ago. This is a big miss on NCL's part and they really should reconsider their age groupings. Another issue is the specialty dining. Because NCL is now offering so many dining packages, these specialty restaurants aren't really that special anymore. They were loud and crowded and service was about the same as the main dining room. In Moderno, we actually left before the end of our meal because of a loud large party with young children literally running around the dining room. This didn't use to be the case years ago in these specialty restaurants. They used to be special, quiet places to go and have an intimate evening. I think the maître d' could do a better job of managing the restaurant in these cases. We did one excursion through NCL to the Orlando Eye and wax museum. Generally, excursions through the boat are crowded and overpriced. I can honestly say that I have never had an excellent shore excursion experience booked through the ship. You're better off doing your research on Trip Advisor and finding something perfect for you. That being said, sometimes the logistics require you to book through the ship (Port Canaveral / Orlando is one example). Special Tips: - Don't miss Food Republic, especially if you like sushi. I think this place is underrated because there is an up-charge, but it is excellent. We saw more crew staff eating here than anywhere else on the ship. There's a reason why. - If you don't already know, please book your dining and entertainment reservations before you get on the boat. Again, people complain that everything is booked and unavailable. "Your failure to plan is not my problem." - Consider the port that your boat sails from. I love the sailings from New York because the boat is packed with people from New York. I just love all the bold, lively personalities. I've also done sailings from Miami, for example. The "personality" of the boat is very different. Same for New Orleans and LA. I love NCL and will stick with this line. There are so many special touches that people don't notice or appreciate - like the singing muffin ladies in the morning. I love the freestyle cruising to be able to do what I want when I want. I love the different areas of the ship. But these are big ships, they carry a lot of people. Make sure you consider that before you book. One final note: a lot of people complain about the nickel and diming on NCL. I don't agree. When you pay the cruise fare with NCL you get a great value. Do your research - their prices are very comparable, if not better, for what you get. Now this is part of freestyle cruising: when you get on the boat, you can spend as much or as little as you like. You do what you want when you want. People expect to pay a value priced cruise fare and then be given the world in return. Yes - you have to pay to bowl. Yes - you have to pay to paint. But there is plenty of food, on a beautiful ship. There is always live music and something fun (and free) to do. NCL let's you decide how much you want to pay and what you want to do, and when you want to do it. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. THANK YOU NCL and all of your FABULOUS CREW MEMBERS for making our family vacation truly exceptional!!! Read Less

My daughter and family booked the cruise first, We wanted to join them and got an excellent price with free gratuities through our travel agency. My grand daughter has severe food allergies and my daughter and all were extremely worried about this at first. However we appreciated the concern and compassionate attention we received regarding this very serious condition. They assured us that the ship has a separate kitchen and all of her foods were prepared in a nut and sesame free environment. Since we are Platinum members we especially enjoy the perks we receive with that level.I think NCL does a fantastic job in the entertainment department as well. We typically cruise to relax, and found the Escape a bit crowded compared to the Jade class ships. We missed the lido area toward the back, Even though H2O is there, it is not as convenient to Garden cafe for early morning breakfast which we really enjoy. Read Less

When we first booked our cruise this early in the year i was leary of terrible weather. Much to my suprise we were blessed with perfect temperatures. Overall an awesome cruise. Definitely recommend getting the drink package. From the Pussers painkillers to all the top shelf alcohol you cant go wrong. The food was delicious with so many choices and no structured dining format it made a more relaxing vacation. The entire cruise staff were warm welcoming and accommodating, especially Garfield from the Savor restaurant I give him Two thumbs up. Garfield has a great outgoing personality so much so that you feel like your talking to a friend when hes around. Another amazing experience was with Boris and SJ and the experienced staff in the art gallery. Our cabin was maintained by Jerome who was awesome very pleasant and attentive to all our concerns. I would recommend NCL to my friends and anyone looking for an amazing cruise Read Less

This was our second time on the Escape, enjoyed it a little better the first time. The first time we went was in September and leaving from Miami so the weather was a bit different and the waves were a bit bigger this time. I traveled with my husband, 14 year old son and 19 year old daughter. It was very easy getting on and off the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smooth and was very organized! Entertainment- Headliners Comedy club was very good. We didn't go to the dueling pianos on this cruise but always have and we always enjoyed it. After Midnight was good. By far the best show on this cruise and probably I've seen on any cruise was Choir of Man! This bunch on guys really knew how to get the audience involved and they put on a fantastic show! Loved every minute of the show!!! Cruise Director Scott is great and the rest of the entertainment crew do a great job as well!!! There is always something to do. Dining- We ate in at Cagney's and La Cucina for Specialty Dining and both were excellent from beginning to end. The service was very attentive and perfect timing in between courses. The food was excellent! At La Cucina our favorites were the mushroom risotto and the fettuccine alfredo! Parmesan Truffle Fries, Crab Cake and Pork Belly were the favorites at Cagney's aside from the delicious Steaks! The food at O'Sheehans was very fresh and tasted great. The chicken wings and the Fish and Chips were our favorites. The service there was also excellent. We ate at each of the main dining rooms. The service isn't as attentive and the selections aren't as great but that's why they have the Specialty Dining experience. I'm not really a fan of the Buffet but that's my personal preference. They do have very good varieties and the food is not bad for a buffet. Value- I feel like if you can go on the ship and tell yourself that you are not going to spend any money, the cruise is at a decent value. It's very hard to not be tempted by the things that cost extra and if you're traveling with kids it's even more difficult. There are a lot of things on the ship that cost extra. Cabin- We stayed in a Family Mini Suite with Balcony. It was a decent size for a cruise cabin but definately a tight space as most cabins are. Shout out to Jenifer, she was very attentive to us and kept our room clean! First day we asked for extra pillows and towels and we had within an hour. Ports and Shore Excursions- If I were to do this itinerary again I would definitely go a different time of the year. Florida was cold and rainy. My husband and son went to Kennedy Space Center and they said it was great but wish they had more time as you weren't able to get off the ship until 1. My daughter and I took a Shuttle to Cocoa Beach. One huge suggestion I have about that is to book it on the ship. It costs the same and you will have priority. The long was ridiculously long for the shuttle and a lot of people were complaining about the wait. Great Stirrup Cay was absolutely beautiful and the weather was great! Other reviews that I have read have said that a lot of times you are unable to go to Great Stirrup Cay due to having to take the Tender Boat. They say a lot of times the winds and waves make the Tender Boat unsafe. You can use your beverage package on the island and the meals are included. So many other things cost extra there though, none of the water sports are included, not even a float. Nassau was a rainy day and it was difficult to shop because so many people stop you to try to sell you stuff. I would definitely suggest booking an excursion. Overall I do love the Escape and I love cruising NCL. The service is excellent and the food is very good overall! I wouldn't cruise this time of year again but I will definitely cruise NCL again. Introduction: Myself (22), my brother (19), and both of my parents went together on a 7 day Florida and Bahamas cruise from New York in Mid-March. We originally booked an Aft-facing Haven Suite but upgraded a few days prior to the cruise to a Haven 2-bedroom family villa, which was well worth it! We have cruised NCL in the past (Getaway) and had such a blast so we chose to return. Embarkation: We chose to drive to the terminal from Maryland the day of the cruise (I-95 traffic was a breeze on a Sunday morning) and we parked on the pier next to the ship (~$200 and well worth it!). Our car was parked less than 100 feet from the side of the ship and you really cannot get any closer. You absolutely pay for the convenience. We go tlost trying to find the inside of the terminal from the parking deck (they need more signage) but we found it eventually. The porters saw our priority embarkation tags and whisked our luggage away quickly. The terminal just opened and the line to security was full, but moved very quickly. We did not notice or see any signs for Haven guests at this point (there was apparently priority security screening for us but we missed it). After security, we found the line for the Haven and we were taken to their private check-in room. A little tight on the inside with lots of furniture stacked up on the walls but it was quiet, comfy, and they had good food. Within an hour of entering the terminal, we were boarding the ship as one of the first guests. As soon as you board, they take you to the Haven where they give a welcome speech and provide cocktails and sliders (they looked SO good!). Lunch was offered in both the Haven restaurant and La Cucina. We chose to go there since we did not have a reservation on the other nights and the italian lunch was delicious. Stateroom: Our stateroom was ready very early in the day and it was truly perfect. The parents loved the king size bed and luxury shower. Their favorite part was all of the jets in it, equating it to a "car wash". Myself and my brother stayed in the separate bedroom, which was comfy and the perfect size for both of us. We appreciated that there were two separate beds (one pull-down) for us. The living area was perfect with the most comfy couch ever, private dining area, and tea/coffee nook. We loved all of the furnishings in the room and our Butler, Henry, made our cruise. My only criticism is that the balcony is very small and I wish it was a little larger but it was not a big deal. Dining: We ate in the Haven restaurant most nights and we thoroughly enjoyed the service. We quickly noticed that the menu does not change and I wish they offered just one or two appetizers, entrees, and desserts every night that would rotate. We enjoyed every meal in the Haven. On the first night, we ate at The Supper Club and watched a magic show by the same guy who was on The Worlds Best. Did not care for the food at all since it was a pre-fixed menu. The salad dressing had an odd taste to it but the dessert was very good. Good dinner show. We also ate in Cagneys and Moderno (loved both of them on the Getaway so we had to return). Moderno was delicious again, will always come back. Cagneys on the other hand was a disappointment. I enjoyed my seafood plate as it had a good variety and seemed very fresh. My father chose to get their signature Porterhouse and claimed it was the worst cut of steak of his life, simply too tough to eat and you had to use a chainsaw to cut it. Our server was very understanding and did her best to accommodate us but this was simply the one "off" meal we had. The desserts at Cagneys were probably the best though, we loved their creme brulee. Our third specialty dining experience was Bayamo, which was a complete RIP OFF. They take the specialty dining plan but they add a surcharge to it, which is fine since it is a special specialty restaurant. However, once you sit down a lot of the menu items have an additional surcharge to it. Even the lobster has a $15-$30 surcharge (couldn't remember the exact number). All of the seafood presented on the menu we could get in the Haven for no surcharge and down in Bayamo, they charge you left and right. Plus, their menu was not that appealing, simply too basic with subpar fish options (including fish and chips). We explained this to the Maitre D and he understood, refunding our specialty dining reservation and giving us a free bottle of wine. Instead, we went to Le Bistro (which we also went to on the Getaway and we absolutely loved but wanted to try something different). It was delicious as always with sophisticated french food and fantastic service. My only gripe with NCL's dining is that you cannot get lobster anywhere on the ship but Bayamo. Too bad cruise ships are doing away with lobster night. We also frequented O'Sheehans, a favorite of ours from the Getaway. The wings tasted even better this time and the loaded nachos (even though you can tell they used fake cheese lol) were so delicious, I had to get them every time. Service was great every time and the venue is always so much fun. We loved going here in the afternoon for a mid-afternoon snack. Favorite complimentary option! Entertainment: The magic show on night one was okay. Entertaining but the tricks were very basic. The trivia throughout was so much fun and we liked to go to their special trivia contests they would have on specific topics (like Airlines of the world, Harry Potter, etc.). We chose to see "Choir of Man" and we were absolutely blown away. I believe it was their last show on the Escape but I really hope they return. The show was very interactive with the audience (they gave away free beer haha) and they delivered a showstopping performance. I cannot speak more highly of them and Choir of Man has to be my favorite show ever. Service: Service was impecable throughout the cruise. Our butler, Henry, made every request possible and truly went above and beyond to make our cruise special. Our stateroom steward Erlito was also very very nice and always so happy. Once we communicated our preferred turndown times with him, he made it work. Fantastic job! Also, the host at the Haven, Made, did a fantastic job and always made us feel special. She was always cheerful and knew us by name very quickly. All of the staff in the Haven were fantastic and made us feel special. It is very easy to get wrapped up in the Haven and I have to say, the staff on the rest of the ship, from the entertainment staff to dining staff, were fantastic as well. It is always interesting to get to know each one and they truly do work very hard so we can enjoy our cruise. Service on NCL exceeds our expectations again. Ports: The cruise stopped in Port Canaveral, Great Stirrup Cay, and Nassau. We have been to all of these ports except great stirrup cay (their private island). We arrived to Port Canaveral (1pm) on a wet, foggy day and we had no shore excursion planned as there really isn't much to do except go to Cocoa Beach (a tourist trap) or Kennedy Space Center (a must-see, already did it). Instead, my brother and I grabbed an Uber and went to the mall nearby to watch Madea's Family Funeral at the movie theater. Uber was about $20 each way and it was only 15 minutes from the port. The mall itself is run-down but when the ship is in port (hopefully a Tuesday), it is $5 movies at the movie theater, a bargain! Highly recommend doing if you just want to get off on the ship on your own. The ship left at 9 or 10pm and we were back by 5pm. Thankfully, we were the first cruise to be able to tender to Great Stirrup Cay in a while. The tender process was very easy and the island was beautiful. The water was a little cold but the sun was definitely shining (my father got really bad sunburn). Everything about the private island was good. Pretty generic in my opinion but it was a fun day in the sun. Lastly, we arrived in Nassau. We have been to Nassau previously and we were aware of the high crime around the port so we believed a ship-sponsored tour was a must. We went to the Atlantis waterpark (did the same excursion on the Getaway and loved it) on a cloudy day. We arrived very soon and walked with our tour guide through the property (it's massive!). We quickly grabbed a lounger by one of the pools and went on the waterslides (no line at first so go quickly). Once the lines got long we chilled in the rapid river. Always so much fun and we enjoyed it. It did rain two times throughout the day (torrential downpours for 15-30 minutes) which helped keep the lines down and may have made some people sad but hey, you're at a waterpark, getting wet in the rain is okay. It wasn't that bad! Haven: If you want personalized service with your own private area of the ship, the Haven is for you. The area itself was nice as the lounge and bar were never busy and the restaurant was just the right size. Our favorite part was the courtyard with loungers on the main deck and above. The roof does retract and stayed closed most of the cruise so we could swim all seven days. My only gripe is that there were way too many young kids (expected for a spring break cruise though). I wish they had adults-only hours in the courtyard, particularly in the afternoon (i.e. 2-4pm when kids sleep). Overall, we loved staying in the Haven as it was very quiet and relaxing. We do think our experience would have been completely different if we stayed in our original aft-facing haven suite outside the Haven (which means you would have to walk from one end of the ship to the other just to get inside the Haven). Ship Layout: Very similar to the Getaway but slightly larger. We did notice there was a lot of wasted space throughout. For instance, the wine venue on Deck 8 was almost always not open and never had people in it. I wish they could make the venue something new. Also, I was not a fan of the lounge/bar in the casino, which seemed to be the only place on the ship where they had live music late at night. It was simply too dark and way too smoky. I think the ship layout flows well as everything is pretty much up top or on decks 6, 7, and 8 but the venues themselves need work. Overall: I would recommend the Haven if your ship has many days at sea. It was very relaxing and the perfect spot to relax. The cruise itinerary itself was okay, not too exciting, but we would do it again just for the ship. NCL does a great job with the little touches (i.e. damp towels when you return to the ship and a live DJ) and they maintain their ships very well. We will absolutely cruise NCL again and we will probably start building loyalty with them. Read Less

We were on the NCL Escape the week of 3/17/19 out of NYC. It was cold and crowded with college spring breakers. Despite this, the crew made this cruise. Never did I see a frown. We were at a CC Meet and Greet on the 1st sea day, and from that point on crew members would say hi to us by name. Imagine that - one little person out of 5000. They took all of the extra little steps to make us feel special. We went to Port Canaveral. Meh. Didn't care for this port at all, but I really loved our outside shore excursion group. He made the day for us. We were able to get to Great Stirrup Cay. It was so pretty!! Loved this port. Nassau...first time there so we "had" to go to Atlantis. Glad I did, but for that price I'd never go again. I can see why a lot of frequent cruisers stay on ship that day. Choir of Man is a must! Great show. The comedians were hysterical. Howl at the Moon was great. Most of the shows the Cruise Director (Scott) had were in the Atrium. It was way too small of a space. Always packed due to aforementioned cold and copious amounts of spring breakers taking over the pool decks. Food in the MDRs was ok...not great...not bad. The options seemed to be getting less exciting. We didn't care for Manhattan due to the noise. The space was pretty though. We opted more for Savor and Taste. They were so similar, I called them "gold" and "blue" based on the color of the glass decor. Blue tended to be slower, but the staff was friendlier. We ate at two specialty dining places: Moderno and La Cucina. If you can, go for the upgrade. AMAZING food. We were in a Balcony "hump" room 13282. Our cabin steward, Kurt was awesome! Embarkation was extremely smooth. Debarkation was an absolute cluster Read Less

I went on the Escape with my family of 5 on 3/17/19. We were in room 5742. I chose this deck because it could accommodate my husband, 3 children (7 and under) and myself. It was also very close to the the Guppies room and Splash Academy. The room although a little tight between the bed and the wall it was great for our family. The couch turned into a bed and there was a pull down bed from the ceiling as well. Embarkation: We were at the port to park around 9:30 am. We parked at the port parking, although a little pricey it was nice to be right there. Getting into the terminal was very easy. We waited on line for security for about 30 minutes before they opened. Once it opened it went very fast. We then waited to board and were on the ship around 11:00 am. Guppies/Splash Academy Once on board we went right to the guppies room and splash academy to sign our kids up. I had heard the guppies room fills up quickly so I wanted to get there and pick the times I wanted. It worked out well and I was able to sign my son up for every spot I wanted. He is 2 and a half and for the guppies room you have to pay $20 / session (2 hours per session). I did back to back sessions every night. He LOVED going and asked to go all day. The staff were very nice and loved welcoming him back every night. My 7 year old twins also loved splash academy. Every night there was a theme and it was done very well. My kids met many friends and truly loved every second they spent with the staff. At the end of the cruise the kids put on a circus show that was very cute and sweet to see that in such a short time they did this. The staff at splash academy were always smiling and having a good time. Food: We did not have one bad meal on this cruise. For dinner we ate mostly in Taste/Savor/Manhattan room. My favorite dish was the Chicken Medeira over risotto. It was delicious. The service was always great and we never felt rushed. We had many great desserts but for me the molton chocolate cake and the snickers pound cake were my favorites. Many days we had breakfast and lunch in the Garden Cafe (Buffet). Everything was always great and there were many options. I never waited on a line to get food because there were so many places to grab stuff from. For breakfast it was very crowded and we could never find a seat but on day 2 I remembered that Margaritaville just one deck up had a lot of seating and food as well. After that we never looked for breakfast seating at the buffet again. We would either get food from the buffet and bring it up or we would just get food from Margaritaville which was the same food the buffet had just less options. We had one dinner at Cagneys. It was good but not great. I enjoyed my steak but nothing blew me away. Entertainment: There was so much to see and do on this ship. The game shows in the atrium were always a lot of fun. They had a lot of audience participation and just a fun time. The Entertainment staff was a riot and really had fun with everyone. For this sailing the cruise director was Scott, he was really fun and always having a good time. One of my favorite things to do was going to see Howl at the Moon. The performers were wonderful and really funny. Once 11 hit it was adults only and it was a lot of fun and laughs. They truly love what they do and had a blast. I also really loved Choir of Man. That show was very entertaining and the cast was fantastic. We also saw After Midnight. The performers were very talented but I was not a fan of the show. There is no story line to follow just different sets with songs and dancing. I wish there was a story. Try not to miss the themed parties in Spice H20. I attended the glow/white party, 80's party and 90's party and all were a lot of fun. If it rains or too windy they move the party to a bar close to the casino. Pools and outside fun: The family pool was very small but the kids still loved it. It was heated and had a life guard. It is right next to the small splash area so the kids can go back and forth between the two. The only complaint I had with this was the lack of chairs by this area. There were no loungers here, there was just no room but only about 6 regular chairs for many people with children. This ship had a lot of young kids and a lot of parents standing around watching this area. We did not do the slides or ropes course because we waited until the last two sea days and unfortunately it was too windy. I heard from others those were a lot of fun though. My kids also enjoyed mini golf and basketball a lot. Ports: Port Canaveral: We did the shuttle to Cocoa Beach. Unfortunately it was a rainy cold day for Florida but we made the best of it. We walked on the beach for a little bit, had some key lime pie and then walked around. We stayed for about an hour and a half and then took the shuttle back to the ship. Great Stirrup Cay: Before the cruise I thought there was no way we would be stopping here. Many sailings have to skip this port due to high winds and it being a tender port. We were very lucky and were able to enjoy this beautiful island. It was really a wonderful day at the beach .The weather was warm and the sun is very strong. Everyone left burnt even with sun screen. They have a barbeque set up and it was really good. They also have a taco bar that was good as well. There is a small shopping area but save your money and ship in Nassau the prices were a bit high. Nassau: I have been to this port four other times. I know many people are not a fan but I enjoyed it. We went to the British Colonial Hilton and bought the beach pass from Resort for day. Before we left I read there was construction next door. I went back and forth about going but in the end we went. Although a few years ago when we went it was a better time and more relaxing it was still fine. There was noise from the construction and the place is a bit more run down now but the beach is still nice, the food was still good and overall we did have a good day. Debarkation: This was very smooth. We got into port early morning maybe around 2-3 am. They started calling self assist passengers off around 7:30 am. We selected a purple tag and were off the ship by 9 am and on the road by 9:20 am. Overall we had a really great cruise. We met really nice people and very nice staff. I would go on the Escape time and time again. Read Less
