If you love shopping at Wal Mart and you consider yourself a "WalMartian" then this is the cruise for you. You will depart at the ships leisure (by the way, Free port is only 50 miles from W Palm Beach and it takes more than 10 hours to get there???) once you arrive in the Bahamas you are dumped off at a port surrounded by nothingness! It was hit by a hurricane in 2004 and has not been rebuilt due to the lack of insurance. My thought is that your $$$ is to help rebuild this run down ghost town. Don't bother booking the beach and shopping excursion because the taxi service (costs 5.00 one way) drops off at a better location than the $49-59.00 drop spot. The Lucaya beach resort is also a ghost town. Its run down and very empty. The only patrons are persons that are from the cruise ships and are dropped here. The beach is small. Not a lot to do here and the shopping is much like a flea market. There are a couple of designer stores but you question if they are the real thing. Gucci left after the storm in 04 and so did a lot of the other stores on the island. The island is 27 miles wide and 96 miles long. I was not impressed with what I saw. The boat:Not impressed at all. I barely ate at the restaurants because you had to basically prearrange meals. If you want a good meal you have to reserve it without knowing what was on the menu. DISLIKE! There was a few bars/lounges on the ship (nothing like Carnival) but the drinks were reasonably priced if you purchased the special drinks. $4.50 each. BAHAMA MAMA????!!!! JUST SAY NO TO THESE! They are premixed. I never had one because they were pushing them so hard. Also, the bottle you can purchase for 3 times more than the normal price, yeah, don't do that either no matter how good they make it sound. Your only on the ship for 2 days. Service:Wasn't impressed. None of them really went out of their way to make our stay extra special. If anything they were rude...again, a lot like WalMart. Pros:Getting on was simple, getting off the boat could have been smoother as we were ready to run far far away. Our cabin was pretty roomy and well maintained. Still not worth taking another trip with Celebration.
