I don't write standard style reviews, but hopefully this will give a feeling for what we experienced on the Century and why we booked another cruise on her. We also don't complain about minor things as some tend to do ("There was a spot on the carpet", "My pillow was too fluffy", etc.) We understood Century is an older ship and there are bound to be mild signs of age. To sit and complain while you're on vacation makes me think people like that should just stay at home. Fortunately, we didn't hear a lot of people complaining. We want good service and food, a

A short history: My partner and I had sailed on the Millennium on her second cruise. As Celebrity's first large format ship the "kinks" hadn't been worked out and we decided to switch over to Royal Caribbean for their "Get Out There" active cruising style. Over the years RCCI (the corporation that owns both Celebrity and RCCL, as well as Azamara) has transformed the RCCL brand into their mass-market/moderate line. With two 5,000+ passenger ships it only makes sense. After our last RCCL cruise on the Jewel OTS we were very disappointed in the lack of services and poor recognition of the Diamond-level Crown and Anchor members, and thus decided to give Celebrity a try again. We will only sail with Celebrity from now on.

We chose the Century for it's smaller size, which we believed would translate into better service, food, clientele, etc. and itinerary. We hit it dead on. Our cruise was not actually a 10 day cruise, but two 5 day cruises back-to-back. We were in a Sky Suite on Deck 12, cabin 1224. The Century was refurbished in 2006, adding Concierge Class cabins and other upgrades. While our cabin was lovely, it did need some moderate updating, but this in no way negatively impacted our experience. You also will need a power strip since there is only one electrical outlet in the cabin. Our stateroom attendants (Anak and Leslie) were excellent, and our butler Arles was beyond exceptional.

Sky Suite

Cabin S1

The size of the Sky Suite on Celebrity Century is comparable to a deluxe veranda stateroom on many newer ships. Some of the furnishings in the room (couch and side chairs) need to be replaced. The room has plenty of storage space. The balcony was very large at 1 1/2 times the size of the standard balconies and featured both a dining table with two chairs as well as two chaise lounges with a side table. The bathroom featured a whirlpool tub and shower, marble vanity/sink and marble floor and walls. The lighting in the bathroom is not very bright. The stateroom does not have enough electrical outlets.
