Our first ever cruise. Chose the fjords as we always wanted to visit, and chose P+O because wife is not great travelling on water , so wanted the biggest ship possible. IONA was a great choice. Check in was not too difficult, and we were on -board at our scheduled time, and lunch was already being served. Our cabin (Deck 10) was big enough for 2, plus we had a balcony that was certainly bigger than the higher decks. Enough storage space in cabin for a week's cruise, bathroom perfectly adequate.

The ship is BIG ( as I reminded myself every day ), and you will get lost at least once in the first day if you have not been on it before ( but that is all part of the adventure).

You have to use the ship's on-board app ( downloaded onto your phone or device) to book meal times, seats at shows etc. Not being the most tech-savvy person, I was anxious of this, but on the whole it always worked, and the on-board spending function is very useful.

Cabin Review

Deck 10 - internal space fine for 2. Bed firm but comfortable. Choice of pillows - soft and firm. Bathroom large enough for 1 person only. Shower always had hot water available. Wash basin takes a while to fill up (tap does not have strong water flow). Shampoo and shower gel supplied. Large Flat screen t.v. with on-demand films and television. Tea and coffee in cabin. Our balcony was larger than decks above us. We had good weather so were able to make full use of this extra space. Nothing quite like standing on your own balcony as you slip the fjords.
