The cruise was a 7-night Norwegian fjords sailing, departing from Southampton heading to Stavanger after 1 day at sea, then onto Olden, followed by Ålesund then finally Haugesund, before returning to Southampton from where we would catch our return complimentary coach transfer home...."Read More
Where to start
Booked this nearly 18 months ago, got a really good price for a full suite for myself my other half my son and my mother. Our first with P&O previous sailings with Princess and RC the noticeable cutbacks began at the terminal, on previous sailings had Porters on hand to take bags off us however this time had to queue up to put our own bags through the chute etc now this is ...
This was our first cruise on one of the larger cruise ships and we were both a little apprehensive despite the fact that I had been on the ship lots of times as part of the Intercruises disability team. This did give me the advantage of knowing my way around and what the cabins were like etc. we both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and have already booked to go back on IONA next ...
This was the second cruise my partner and I had ever taken, the first being a short taster cruise on the P&O Ventura for 4 nights. This cruise was for 7 nights and was visiting 3 locations around the North Sea.
The best way I can describe our experience on Iona is... "Meh". It wasn't horrific, it wasn't perfect, it was just slightly below average.
The positives; the crew were helpful and ...
My wife and I cruised on Iona last summer and apart from the poor service in the bars and main dining rooms due to a lack of staff we were very impressed. We found a big improvement in service this time in what turned out to be a very eventful cruise to Northern Europe. We had a fire in the Atrium on the day of boarding after a battery on a mobile scooter exploded and caught fire in a very ...
We have cruised over 20 times with P&O but this ship was a poor experience for us. The ship itself is very nice, but as far as we are concerned thats where it ends!!. The ship is very large and impersonal, unlike the other ships it just does not flow. Once onboard we had to download the holiday app in order to book shows etc, however that was a complete farce because as soon as we tried to book ...
Firstly Embarkation
My Daughter dropped us off in Southampton, The car park to the cabin was 30 minutes it was painless and well organized, and plenty of staff on hand to help.
Our cabin was a deluxe balcony right at the front of the ship and was clean and comfortable, its only drawback was a push-open door rather than a sliding door which was heavy to operate and had to be jammed open if ...
have been loyal P & O cruisers for many years, however our latest one could been the start of the end.
We know Iona is a big big ship but we thought that we would give it a go, unless we try it we cant say for definite that its not for us, sadly Iona is not for us.
Cabin-
okay but narrow, i suppose thats how they fit so many in by making them narrow. storage poor very ...
We chose this ship for the one reason, our last cruise was on their flag ship Britannia. The Britannia is a five star ship, the food was fantastic, the balcony cabin was very nice 220 sq. The Iona is a two star ship, very small balcony cabin at 107 sq., the food was cold in the buffet, and over cooked in the Aqua Dining Room. On rough days at sea on the Britannia you may stay inside, and will be ...
One experience was excellent from embarkation to leaving this wonderful ship. The standard inside cabin was spacious and very well designed. Very comfy bed and plenty of storage.
Food was excellent in the horizon buffet, The Quays and in the main dining rooms. The Chefs table was delicious and highly recommended.
All the staff were pleasant and eager to please. We waited no longer than 10 ...
1st cruise post covid, we had this trip booked for September 2020 which was cancelled. Three of us travelling in 2 balcony cabins, part of celebrating my mums 80th birthday.
Husband and I have completed a number of cruises on Princess, RCI, Celebrity & P&O.
Boarding was one of the slickest we have experienced, 30 mins from arrival at port to being on the ship, we did arrive near to our ...
