We just returned from the January 23rd sailing on the Majesty of the Seas, a four-night cruise to the Bahamas and Coco Cay. It is important to keep this cruise in proper perspective considering the price of about $45 a day (inside cabin) plus tips. We spent five days at hotels in addition to the cruise, and those totaled about $100 a day living, some entertainment, and eating very modestly. So, any negative comments are followed by the phrase “but it was a great deal.”

Cocoa Beach Hotel

We rented a car and drove to the pre-cruise hotel: LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Cocoa Beach. It was clean, had a great pool (which was too cold to use in 50-60 degrees January temps, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. It was quiet, and there are many restaurants within walking distance. I would give them five stars, but the cleaning ladies faltered on two of our four days there( not removing soiled towels and totally not servicing the room another day. She claimed we had a “do not disturb” sign on the door, which was only true until 10:30 AM and she SAW us leave. Overall, a very good stay and I would stay there again. We stayed at the Radisson at the Port in Port Canaveral last time and thought they were great.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin

Okay, an inside cabin on the Majesty is about the smallest in any fleet, and I didn’t have trouble with that. We had enough storage and asked for the beds to be separated, or one of us was going to be crawling over the other to get out of bed. Three things that were annoying: an occasional clunk underneath at night. We thought we were in a submarine. The TV is over the head of the beds, so you have to reposition yourself to watch the TV. They need to add a move conservative network for news. Listening to Christian Amanpour was taxing on our nerves.

The worst part of the cabin was the flat as a pancake pillows. All the hotels we stay at manage to have nice fluffy pillows. Just that one feature would have helped the rating go up one star.

Port Reviews

Nassau

I just don't understand the fascination with this island. Most experienced cruisers aren't excited about it.
