Our group of 5 couples wanted to see the Northeast in the fall so we decided to take a cruise up the St. Lawrence Seaway. We chose a Holland America cruise from Montreal to Boston because of their reputation. We enjoyed the ports and the excursions (although we booked our excursions through another company). Our complaints were with the ship itself. We felt the ship was understaffed--all the waiters, bar tenders, etc. seemed to be very busy and had to rush at times. The food was definitely a disappointment for us--we were looking forward to good fish but ended up eating steak as its taste was dependable. The entertainment was a disappointment, too, other than the piano player Our rooms were the biggest disappointment--poor lighting, too cold, no hot water, and needed updating badly. 8 of the 10 of us got off the ship with bronchitis and 2 ended with pneumonia. The response to my post cruise survey stating these problem was a simple non-personalized email and did not address any of the problems stated in the survey. I was never contacted by a customer service representative. It seemed that a customer's satisfaction was not important to them!
