Unfortunately this cruise was off to bad start as no one could board for along time & there seemed to be no organisation. Finally on board after 2 hrs. in a queue.. then no cabins were ready for a very long time. Luggage was not delivered til 8pm! In fact we went & collected 1 suitcase our selves, as it had not been delivered. No explanation as to why all these delays. Our cabin was very nice ..after eventually able to get in at 7pm!!! Dinning was much more civilised in the dining rooms than at the Buffett ..where is was often a bun fight.. with people pushing in here & there. The crew were very polite & well mannered, but some were not trained properly in 1st class dining. In the Restaurants , dining plates were removed before the other person had finished their meal. So more training seems to be needed in some areas. This cruise was definitely very American orientated, as most of the passengers were from the USA. Shore excursions were very expensive. The one we took in Costa Rica was for 4&half hours. But it returned to the ship 1 hour early & the last part of our excursion was not fulfilled. I complained on our return & a report was taken, then 1 week later when I enquired I was told we would get a $15- refund each! We heard lots of complaints about various shore excursion/ tours ..but most people didn't not make an official complaint.
cabin was nice & spacious, one of the highlights of our cruise.
nice town & easy to get around
nice small town & easy to get around
we were picked up at the dock so didn't see the Valparaiso ..Loved the trip to Santiago on our small bus with another couple. the driver was very knowledgeable & explained the area , history ..which took nearly 2 hrs to our Hotel in Santiago. Loved Santiago ..diverse people , history & folk lore.
