I had read a lot of negative reviews about Cruise & Maritime and the vessel Magellan before my wife and I embarked on this, our first, cruise. I am pleased to say that any reservations I had were completely unfounded. Parking at Tilbury was well organised and efficient as was the boarding and luggage handling. The food was excellent both in variety and quality in the restaurants and the bistro. The inside cabin was spacious and kept immaculately clean and well stocked with toiletries by our steward Imam. We slept well and were not aware of any noise or vibration as reported by other commentators. Imam and the rest of the multi-national crew were superb. Courteous, helpful, obliging are words that come to mind. The Magellan is a smaller cruise ship and doesn't have all the bells, whistles and shopping malls of the mega cruise liners afloat today. But we didn't want a floating Disneyland. What the Magellan does have are comfortable lounges and bars (with very reasonable prices) and good entertainment every evening plus a casino if you fancy your luck. The vessel has a homely feel to it which we much prefer to the floating city type of vessel with its 3000 plus inhabitants including noisy children. The other passengers on the cruise were mainly British and there are no children allowed on this vessel which, and I am a father and grandfather and love my kids, was a real blessing. The Norwegian fjiords were wonderful and the shore visits interesting and not rushed. What I remember most is the hardworking and always pleasant crew members from many different parts of the world who made this cruise a success. We shall travel with Cruise & Maritime again and certainly on the Magellan again. Ignore the critics; if you are thinking of joining the Magellan or other Cruise & Maritime vessel for a cruise my advice is do not hesitate.
