i was on the 'magellan' for the norwegian fjords cruise and as it was my first cruise i was a bit apprehensive, this apprehension disappeared as soon as i boarded and was met by friendly, polite and helpful crew members.

i only wanted to see the fjords and visit bergen but the whole trip was wonderful. spotless cabin, excellent food with first class service, many on-board activities and very good entertainment. the bridge tour was interesting and amusing with a captain who took time to explain various questions with good humour even tho he must hear the same things regularly. my only complaint was i lost 30 quid playing roulette!

the scenery was breathtaking and bergen is a beautiful city. i will certainly go cruising in the near future. overall, a wonderful experience. i have never thought of myself as a good mixer as my scottish borders accent is difficult to leave behind but again this was unfounded as i met some interesting characters from all over. on the days at sea i went to listen to the guest speaker's lectures on vikings, norwegian folklore and the voyages of ferdinand magellan which were both informative and witty, presented by a big cheery guy called alan wright.

Bergen

clean and friendly city. wish i'd had a bit more time there. enjoyed the walk into the city centre passing different styles of buildings and seeing a variety of interesting things.
