Cruising on the Fontane with Viking was my first experience. I have only great things to say about Viking from my initial conversation and throughout my trip. The staff on board was wonderful and the food was great. I'm glad my first cruise was on the Fontane because I found out from the seasoned Viking travelers this ship was on the lower level of elegance compared to other Viking ships. Glad I started at the bottom because my next cruise will only be better!
The excursions were great even though the weather was not cooperative being rainy, cold and we even had hail one day... but that's what you get when traveling off peak. The winds were so high one day we were pushed aground and had to throw out the anchor and spend the night where we were for the night. Running aground raised some excitement as it happened during daylight so we could see how the captain tried to handle the situation.
I have met some wonderful people on the ship and continue to keep in touch with them.
very small for 2 people... kept bumping into each other...
I went to the Charles Bridge the evening before the group tour and got to see it in the evening with the lights... It was worth seeing it in the day and evening..
Again I did it on my own prior to group trip and in the evening.. a totally different experience at night vs day
