My husband booked this cruise for an Easter break, with Thomson, about 6 weeks before departure. Having been on other cruises with P&O , NCL etc we thought we would try a Thomson platinum cruise. First we had 2 hour delay at Gatwick (apparently due to co-pilot not available n also too many flights going to Paphos at the same time ?).when at Paphos , it took 1.30 hours for our bags to come through along with 3 other flights but only the bags of the people going on the cruise ?????. obviously NOT a good start. Arrived at ship , to be allocated our cabin no. (bit of a shambles as we had to find our bags again and attach tags of room no. and the bags were all over the place. Finally got to our cabin to find 2 separate beds in an L shaped cabin, (I thought they had made a mistake n gave us a childs room) Went straight to reception to be told that this was a double room n there was no chance of an upgrade as they were sailing at full capacity. Obviously there were quite a few people with the same problem, even a couple on Honeymoon. This is why your only allocated your rooms on arrival so its to late to do anything about it .Then we attended the safety role call... for 20 mins or so only to receive a note the next morning asking why we did not attend. So angry by this point after a very uncomfortable nights sleep in what only can be called childrens bunk beds. My husband then made an official complaint. .The food on this ship is average at best, and after paying £200 each for the drinks package only to find that it dose not include Ciders or Baileys or pina coladas etc n the wine was just about drinkable, we were not that happy. Still, we were on holiday so we tried to make the most of it. After talking to others on the ship, it seemed if you had been on other cruises with other cruise lines the general thinking was , you would not return with Thomson, but if Thomson were the only cruise line you sailed with, you would, not knowing that for the same money you could get a far superior cruise .After another 2 hours trying to get through passport control at Paphos homeward bound, we thought to make a complaint with Thomson only to find , after 20mins of filling out the complaint forms on line ,your complaint can only get through if you give all your personal details to Thomson,(even down to how much you earn, how much your hse is worth , who,s your insuance with etc.) I suppose for them to sell on ???. On a better note the cabin staff and restaurant staff were lovely n made the best of what they did.... Oh and the ship has seen better days , and very bouncy all the time even when docked.
