Let me preface this by saying that our cruise on the Destiny was our 20th but our first on Carnival. We were able to book a balcony cabin for a really good rate and we liked the idea of 6 islands although we had already been to 4 of them. I also wanted to be able to rate Carnival fairly when someone asked me what I thought of this Line.
EMBARKATION: As others had said, this was a simple process helped along greatly by the on-line preregistration available. We left Buffalo in snow and arrived to a warm San Juan. The line to get a taxi was orderly and quick. I preferred it to the Carnival transfer because there was no need to wait for a full bus. We were at the port in 15 minutes. Thank you other cruise critic members for the heads up on duty free liquor purchases. We saved a bundle on bar bills during the cruise. I was a bit shocked that we were left on our own to find Cabin 7316.
CABIN: 7316 is an oddly shaped room. It's aft (the back of the ship) but because of where it is, the balcony is quite large. There were two chairs, a table and a chaise lounge. Lots of storage space...the most we have ever had in a cabin. The shower was great and the medicine cabinet holds all the things you bring. One note, bring your own conditioner. Shampoo and body wash is supplied as is a razor, deodorant and toothpaste. I love the pillows on Carnival.I slept like a baby for a week. PORTS OF CALL: This will probably not interest a lot of people because we didn't do many shore excursions. We wanted to relax.
