Aegean Classics

Sail Date: July 2014
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Corfu
A bit late, but here is my review of our recent cruise on Thomson Majesty (18th July) :

Our flight from Edinburgh arrived in Corfu on time, but the cases took quite a while to reach the baggage carousel, another flight had arrived just before us, so I guess that's the norm for such a small airport. Eventually after a quick trip on the bus we arrived at Corfu port.

Embarkation was quick and easy, registration, photos, onto the ship and we were taken straight to our cabin, happy to see our cases had already arrived!

We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the cabin was, we'd booked an outside plus as I had a couple of queasy episodes on the IE when we had a cabin near the bow! It was decorated to a high standard, looked like a new carpet had recently been laid and was a lovely bright cabin. The picture window was clean with no rust round the frames. There were loads of drawers and ample hanging space and also plenty of coat hangers. The toilet/shower room More was on the small side but perfectly adequate. The hair dryer there didn't work but there was another one in the dressing table drawer, which although pretty slow was fine.

Being on deck 3 was a good incentive to use the stairs as often as I could. By the end of the week I could just about manage seven flights!

We mainly ate in the Piazza San Marco and the Café Royale, although we did use the MDR once or twice. The food was of a high standard and always hot, with plenty of choice. We never went hungry that's for sure!

The entertainment was really good, we especially liked the band Muzik Unlimited, the female singer was excellent, and here was always something going on to suit every taste.

The itinerary was great, we loved almost every port, especially our trip to Athens and Aghios Nikolaos. We didn't think much of Kalamata and after walking for ages halfway into the town looking for little souvenir shops we gave up, went back to the ship and then had a stroll along to the little beach, and found one nearby.

On our last day the bus was to pick us up at 11.45 but we were told there would be a delay of over 4 hours so our flight back home would be leaving at 7.15pm. Luckily we were able to stay on the ship until our pick up at 4.30, thank goodness we weren't stuck at Corfu Airport longer that we had to be, that wouldn't have been a very nice end to a great holiday!

All in all we had a great time, and although there were a few hassles with our online booking, they were sorted out and didn't spoil the time we had. The crew were absolutely amazing and couldn't do enough for you. We'll be back in the near future I'm sure! Less

Cabin review: Outside Plus368

Very spacious cabin, loads of hanging space and an abundance of drawers. A little noisy sometimes but it didn't stop us having a great nights sleep every night. Plenty of room for moving around. I'd definitely go for an outside plus again.
