We did a 7 day cruise on the Pacific Jewel from Brisbane stopping at Noumea, Mare, and Port Villa. Firstly I will say that this is a relatively cheap cruise compared to other cruise lines and this should be remembered when reviewing. Embarkation was a bit chaotic with so many people crowded into a small area for processing but once on the ship this was soon forgotten. Disembarking was very well organised with smaller groups exiting in stages. The Pacific Jewel is an older ship and did feel old with not much glitter and shine to it. Most lounge areas were in the centre of the ship with minimal natural lighting so seemed dark. Cabins were a little dated but functional. I was in a wheelchair cabin which was very spacious and suitable for my needs. Dining options were good. At the Plantation buffet food was of a buffet quality. I would recommend booking daily at the Waterfront restaurant for evenings (where the food is of a good step up and of a good quality (again remembering this is not a 5 star cruise). Waterfront breakfast and lunch was excellent. Waiting staff in all restaurant areas throughout the ship were very good. More staff for taking drink orders on deck would have been better as sometimes it was hard to find them and even harder to get to the bar yourself. I thought the entertainment and activities were mediocre. Production shows weren't very good, acrobatics were ok but in the atrium which had limited access/space. I would rather see bigger production shows. I had previous done a cruise on the Pacific Sun 4 years ago and went to shows every night as were so good. This trip only sat though 10 minutes of 3 shows as were poor quality. The stop at Noumea was at 3pm which is a complete waste of time. By the time you disembark the town is only an hour from closing up, It's dark during half of the sightseeing tours. Over all it was a good cruise but not as good as last time and I won't rush back
