My family and I were on the Costa Mediterranea from 2/12 til 2/19. This was our third cruise (once on Celebrity Millennium and once on RCCL Radiance of the Seas) and it was our least favorite. We love cruises though so even though it didnt compare to the quality of Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, it was still enjoyable, nonetheless.

Embarkation: Embarkation took the longest time of the ships weve been on but still wasnt very long. It was about thirty minutes before we were on the ship. We arrived at the port at around 11:45 and the boarding of passengers began at 11:50, not 1:30, as the documents say.

The Ship: The ship itself was spotless. It received a perfect 100 score in the CDC inspections and seldom did I ever see a place on the ship where a crew member wasnt cleaning. I, as well as many others on this site, believed the atrium was overdone but it grows on you. The glass elevators were nice but it was missing elevators that face the sea which the other two ships I went on had. The bars and lounges were always exciting and eventful -- Mr. Pizza, Karaoke, bands, etc. The beautiful, Egyptian inspired, Osiris Theatre was beautiful but had some bad seats. The first rows of seats on the balconies were no good because the metal bars that topped the glass railings of the balcony obstructed ones view. Many of the handicapped seats were situated behind poles and some seats were obstructed by poles. The entertainment was not perfect but the production shows were certainly up there with the ranks of Celebrity and close to Royal Caribbean. The pools on the top deck were somewhat small but never crowded and there were always events taking place on the pool deck such as horse races and live poolside bands. The waterslide, open to all ages but only open for a few hours a day had too little water in it as I and other kept stopping on it and had to push ourselves at some points just to get down it. The gym was spacious and had many different pieces of exercise equipment and a high quantity of each. Unfortunately, I didnt use the gym much but now, six pounds later, I regret that decision. Ship had a small chapel that I never actually used and a large arcade that I went to once. The layout of the ship; however, was somewhat eccentric as some places were tucked away and hard to find. I did not use the teen facilities but heard they were pretty good.
