I am a retired, professional travel writer. These are my views on Iona based on over 35 cruises on various ships.
Embarkation and disembarkation Southampton - excellent, CPS parking first rate, supplied as part of the package.
Cabin 8307, conservatory mini suite on deck 8 - comfortable, lovely conservatory opening to balcony. None of the predicted privacy issues from passengers using the ...
It has takem me until now to write this critique because I came back so angry and disappointed : we have been cruising with P and O and princess ships for 12 years or more including the Ventura : NEVER WITH P and O again!!
canaries was on my bucket list for my 70th brthday gift
problems started when couldn't have table for 2: instead we were put on a table for 6 with people I didn't want to ...
We chose this cruise as we were travelling with family and there were children in our group, so we thought Iona would be perfect. We travelled on Britannia in January 2022 and had a really good experience so were looking forward to being on P&O's newest ship.
Embarkation was fine, from arriving at the port to being on the ship was about 40 minutes.
The cabin was well appointed but VERY ...
Second time for us on Iona after sailing last yer in November. Checking in and waiting to board was slow and the wait was the slowest of all cruises taken during the last 18 months.
Once on board we found that the state rooms would not be ready until 1pm. So had a wait of about an hour, fine really.
As we knew our way around the ship we had no issues finding somewhere to sit and have a ...
This was my first cruise with P and O and I had high expectations. Sadly they were not delivered; the ships decor was in places “tired” although some of the bars , such as Adersons and the Crows Nest were very comfortable and restful. This was my third cruise this year and I was surprised to find issues re. staff shortages. Not all of the speciality restaurants were open, there was no turn down ...
Well that is us ashore and making our way home from Ventura. We had an amazing holiday, met great people, and stunning port calls. Value for money was excellent but where do you start with Ventura? She is clearly a Marmite ship with many loyal followers which is good, however and for us we was not impressed at all. Cleanliness is well well below acceptable standards never mind what you expect ...
Ok everyone knows the cruise ships, but this is a list of cutbacks my wife and I found after two years not cruising because of covid.
P&O take note.
Remember this is for Iona, other ships could be different.
In The Cabin,
No more little sweets, No conditioner for hair, No port info, Postcard, Writing paper, No turn down service at night, No little chocolates.
Room service no ...
In need of a break at short notice repeating an itinerary that we have travelled before. First time on Iona and unfortunately the last. Embarkation was good. Booked on a balcony guarantee basis and were given deck 8 promenade the downside being it has a permanent flow of walkers/joggers and some very nosey people who jump up to look into your cabin. Also a greater problem is the deck is full of ...
Choosing Ventura for half term week was a gamble, she was full yet I was on board witjthere was still room to move, the terrace pool never overcrowded. The staff are what make Ventura so good.
She is ageing gracefully has many loyal returning guests, I enjoyed my week immensely yet P& O have made a lot of cutbacks.
Breakfast not as bountiful in the buffet but better in the ...
Our first time cruising with P&O and probably the last. The ship is spotless and our suite was lovely and spacious. House keeping is fantastic too. As we had a suite, embarkation was quick and we were on the ship early which gave us time to install the app which is necessary to book dining, shows, shore experiences etc.
Unfortunately the app is not fit for purpose. It was often down or 'threw ...
