The best food ever. The ship was beautiful and immaculate. But we felt this new ship was designed to make more money for Celebrity rather than make it more enjoyable for the guests.
They put on more passenger rooms, but didn't put on more pools and lounge chairs. Too many people for 3 tiny pools and never enough lounge chairs. Lounge chairs were squished together - you bumped elbows with the stranger next to you. And the jogging track runs right through the middle of it all, you couldn't even walk it without bumping into someone.
Why have so many specialty restaurants, when the regular dining room was so beautiful and delicious? We believe it was to make money - usual charge was $40 per person, alcohol not included. Again, Celebrity could have put a pool on that back deck instead of all the restaurants.
Celebrity tried to do something different - but it didn't work. The glass blowing exhibit is useless, taking up valuable space - they should have put in more lounge chairs to read in the shade. The lawn is a unique idea, but half of it was closed from "salt air damage" and the other half is for playing games. Not many guests on Celebrity (usually an over 65 group) can sit down on the lawn and get up!!!
We wanted a cocktail before dinner, and the upstairs Sky Lounge was closed for a Private Party, so we went to Michael's Club and that also was closed for a Private Party - I bet those people paid the cruiseline a lot of money to reserve those rooms - but it made even less places to get a drink! There is a huge martini bar, but we don't drink martinis.
The pre-paid tipping is a bad idea, and it is required if you want "anytime dining". We felt the room stewart and the part of the restaurant the "anytime diners" were required to sit, had poor service. The room stewart was the worst we have ever had. We had the same restaurant hostess all week, and she never remembered us, and didn't even have shoes on one night!
The entertainment was again a different, unique circus-type act, and should be replaced. The Broaadway show with the Celebrity singers and dancers was excellent. We loved the magician and comedian. And the 4 male singing acapella group were outstanding - put them on stage with a full orchestra. The nightly entertainment in the ship's center lobby were also excellent. Put them on the stage instead of the hula hoop act.
The ship was immaculate, our room very nice on the back, the gym was great, Eastern Caribbean islands beautiful, the food was excellent, but we just couldn't recommend this ship.
