The cruise itself was great!

We embarked in Charleston, SC, with the families of my wife's two sisters. Having spent 22 years in the Navy, most of them on submarines, I was definitely looking forward to going to sea without having to stand watch or handle the mooring lines. The ship was an hour late arriving, so the boarding was delayed. The check-in could have been longer, but my wife's younger sister was friends with one of the officials , so we ended up with VIP boarding, which put us ahead of a V E R Y long line. The ramp up to the ship was exceedingly long for my wife, who had knee surgery a little over 6 weeks previously, and her older sister, but it was no real problem for the rest of us.

Once we were aboard, the crew was more than polite. All of our luggage arrived after the required abandon ship familiarization drill. The briefing was handled very professionally by the crew. We then went to dinner as the ship got underway.

Cabin 6E

Our cabin, U92, was setup with twin beds, one along the ship's centerline and one athwartships. This was actually a good layout. There was plenty of room to move around. My wife was able to sleep in the athwartships bed and avert being sea-sick while sleeping. The shower was the bomb! Awsome pressure. The beds were very comfortable.
