Not our cup of tea

Sail Date: September 2011
Destination: Europe - River Cruise
Embarkation: Amsterdam

We stayed at the Hotel Amsterdam City Centre. The hotel was comfortable but we had a problem with the food at the hotel. Again, it was just not prepared in a way that we are used to. We did find a wonderful Argentinian steak house for dinner.

The boarding process was super easy, unlike an ocean cruise. We were greeted by the staff and immediately felt at ease.

We could not have been happier with the staff on this boat. The Hotel Manager, Artur was always out and about on the ship and interacted with every passenger. The Cruise Manager, Christian Abkar, was also great. He was very knowledgeable and willing to do whatever he could to improve your experience. Our room stewardess, Tedy was the very best we have ever had on any cruise. She was always doing something extra special for us without us having to ask. She was perfect in our book.

We felt the food left something to be desired. We didn't feel that the food was up to our standards. There was More limited choices, especially at dinner. Also, we didn't like the variable times for meals. My husband is more comfortable with routine and this seemed to be a problem for him.

The itinerary itself was great. We enjoyed seeing the interior of Germany and France (Strasbourg) and Switzerland. These are places we couldn't have seen from an ocean cruise. I especially liked the day of cruising when we were treated to a lot of castles.

Our stop in Cologne included a beautiful cathedral. This entire trip had so many cathedrals and castles it was wonderful.

We were very fortunate to have great weather on the river portion of our trip. We would have loved to see Lucerne without the rain. Less

Cabin review: AmaLegro 304

Our cabin was great. Plenty of storage, couldn't even use it all. The bedding was a little heavy for us but our room stewardess switched it out after the first night which was wonderful.

Port and Shore Excursions

We have been to Amsterdam before but thoroughly enjoyed the canal cruise. There is always something new in a city this unique.
