First impression of ship was very favourable; she looked a very grand ship in her berth at Palma port. The giant new Norwegian Epic was berthed close by and looked like a floating block of flats. No character at all. The Dream looked very sexy compared to that lump of a ship. Ok, onboard we went. Cabin was on deck 6 and very nice it was too. Beautifully kept - housekeeper serviced cabin twice a day. Full service in the morning and bed beautifully turned down for the evening, with a goodnight choccie on pillow to indulge whilst reading the "Cruise News" flyer for following day. Essential bedtime reading as it included useful tit bits such as notice of a tour of the bridge next day and how to apply for limited space on it. Came across a few who were really miffed at missing out on this real treat hosted by lovely junior bridge oficer Alice - that'll teach 'em not to pay attention and be more selective with their bedtime reading : ) Service by all staff was excellent. The orion restaurant is the more formal one, but not a too restrictive dress code; trousers and shirt for us men were fine. A full waiter service 6 course menu of excellent food with plenty of choice. The Sirens restaurant on deck 11 was less formal and buffet service. Again, excellent choice of food with something for everyone. Afternoon tea with sandwiches and plentiful cakes was very popular here. Scones and cream included. However, a very nice Elegant Tea was served in the Argo Lounge daily 3.30 - 5. Really nice relaxing time to be had in this nice cool lounge away from the bussle. Two very nice white smart gloved waitresses serving delicate sandwiches and cakes with tea or coffee. I recommend this if you wish to just relax for an hour. Well done Thomson's for providing such a cruise tradition. The Lido restaurant proved to be our favourite. Buffet style again, but plenty to choose from. This restaurant is 24 hour. Wife was a little uneasy first night and couldn't settle; we found our way to the Lido at 4 am and was greeted by very friendly staff offering us drinks and fresh food at this hour. Excellent. Entertainment was good and varied. Very nice to watch shows in the Broadway theatre. The show team work very hard to put on these good shows. Very nice resident band in the Medusa lounge. UK act twice a week I think. It was Maurice Grumbleweed our week. Not bad, old smutty gags aside. The ship itself? I've read the 'bad' reviews here on the web, but didn't encounter any of the issues folk have complained about. The ship compares favourably with grand old liners, in my opinion. Beautiful teak promenade deck all around deck 9. Lovely to be able to stroll along this on those fine Med evenings. You won't find this on many ships today. Finally, we loved every moment onboard and can thoroughly recommend this ship for a cruise around the Med. We would most certainly have no hesitation in booking again. Seems to me Thomson's have addressed the teething problems experienced by some passengers when first bought into Thomson fleet last year. In my opinion, this ship punches above it's weight when compared to the characterless new giant ships you may see on your travels.
