Ref:0258/22459- 1st port Rappallo ItalyWe (mum, dad & 14 year old son) returned last week from the Medley cruise on the "Dream". While the crew and staff, locations & weather were fantastic the same unfortunately cannot be said for the boat or for a number of the passengers. The boat is very, very tired in all aspects and needs to be retired soonest. The seamanship standard of the crews operating the tender services was deeply worrying and indeed as I predicted at the time unfortunately ended up with one elderly passenger being injured on disembarking tender onto ships pontoon. It appeared like the pilots were training on the job. NOT GOOD! The entertainment was woeful bordering on the downright cheesy to the ridiculous....Napkin folding demonstrations (struth!)......Bingo (Jeez)..........Catchphrase (oh pleez!). The resident band "Strumjam" were utterly preposterous and unconsciously hilarious. The whole experience was that of a Butlins at sea holiday. Drunks being fed drink all day from breakfast onwards fighting among themselves by afternoon......one of which requiring permanent assistance by two members of staff to walk safely around the decks...even to the toilets (which are well shoddy)....shocking display of Scots abroad (and I am one). The outside + cabin we had was well maintained by the housekeeping cheery staff. However the cabin was tired dreary and depressing. The bath was a joke...tiny....chipped and the shower uncontrollable. Any view was witnessed through a grimy rusty diffused porthole. This was a parody of a cruise and was deeply disappointing......we could not wait to get off the boat. I could accept some of this if it was cheap but it was far from it.NIVER IVER again. The outside + cabin we paid extra for was well maintained by the housekeeping cheery staff as best they could for what it was. However the cabin was very tired dreary dark and depressing....Tired old dark carpets. The bath was a joke...tiny....chipped and the shower uncontrollable. Old chip-wood furniture with jamming drawers. A makeshift couch posing as a 3rd bed for 14yr old son....this was supposed to be a 3 person cabin...it was definitely NOT! Any view was witnessed through a grimy rusty diffused porthole. I would not sell this as Thomson did....very misleading indeed....and expensive to-boot.
