The Eclipse is a lovely ship, smooth sailing and well kept. Our 14 nights in Scandinavia and Russia were educational and the weather was excellent for the May-June timeframe.

Our disappointment is with the cruise ship Maitre'D and how our requests were handled. We had late dining and asked for early or Select when we boarded the ship at 1 p.m. We were told they would call us back. We didn't hear a word so went back the next afternoon and were told "eat at 8:30 or go to the buffet" - imagine!! We went to the Captain's Club (the conceirge desk was never manned when we went there a few times over the 2 weeks). They spent time with the MDR and got us a 6:30 seating on day 2. Day 3, we asked if that was our regular table and they said, Yes, just show up there....really? Anyway, things worked out, but their attitude and treatment was very disappointing. Meals were ok - not the usual high standards, but enjoyable. Wait staff and our room steward were excellent. I took back our tips and re-distributed them to ensure that those who deserved extra got it and the Maitre'D was not rewarded - first time we've ever done that!

The Russian sale was a gong show. People lined up with white shopping bags were packed in 4 deep - I'm sure that many items were likely stolen as there was absolutely no control. To boot, I've since seen the same Russian eggs here at home for less money!! What a rip off.

Storage closet was inadequate; the rest was great and the cabin crew were excellent.
