In Cozumel we took a cab to Chankanaab as we wanted to spend the day snorkeling there. Glad we did it this way, cost roughly $25pp for the cab and admission. Great snorkeling, water was clear, fish fairly abundant. Only shopped at the cruise port shops, but found their prices to be very reasonable compared with shops in other ports that were not Carnival Sponsored. 


Cozumel

Belize we took the Carnival sponsored Altun Ha River trip. Only spent about 45 minutes at Altun Ha, then off for a 30 minute lunch then a 2 hour boat ride down the river back to the port. River tour was interesting as we saw Howler monkeys, crocodiles, porpoises, lizards and manatees. Found out that booking through Carnival was a little more relaxing for me as I wasn't watching my watch to make sure we got back to the ship on time! 


Belize City

Roatan was beautiful. Booked a personal driver through Victor Bodden tours. While they had great reviews on Trip Advisor, I was unhappy with them. Did the zip line tour and Victor's Monkey Business where they had Capuchin monkeys, parrots, and various other animals - very good time. Also went to Half Moon Bay to snorkel based on the driver's recommendation - it was OK, would look at other places to snorkel though. Big gripe with the driver was that he was supposed to have our best interests first. He took us to a "great souvenir shop where the prices are much lower than the cruise terminals". We trusted his advice - WRONG! Ended up paying double for everything there, but we didn't find that out till after we got back to the cruise terminal. Emailed Victor Bodden about our experience. He replied but blew us off. Sorry, but avoid Victor Bodden Tours. Roatan is very beautiful - mountainous and nice water. 


Roatan

Costa Maya was fun. Took a cab to Mahajual fishing village - 2 miles away and spent the day there. Interesting walk down the street as the shops are on one side of the street (no cars on this road), and the beach across the street with umbrellas, chairs, etc. As you walked down the street, a person would approach you trying to get you to use their beach (umbrellas, food, drinks, jet skis, etc). You'd walk 100 feet, get into the next persons territory. This went on for about a block. We walked back and settled on Coco Cabanas as they seemed to have the setup we were looking for. We rented jet skis - $30/half hour, snorkeled - $20pp, swam, ate and drank for the day - a lot of fun. Had a waiter for the day, stopping by constantly to check up on you and make sure that you didn't need anything. Very nice people, positively recommend it. 



Costa Maya

Comfortable beds, decent decor, quite location,  nice sized windows, two bathrooms a definite plus for getting ready.  As someone else mentioned, if you weren't careful, water would leak out of the one shower as the lip was only about 3" high.
