A Pleasant Surprise

Sail Date: January 2011
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Baltimore

First Baltimore is a great Port to embark from. This was our 40th cruise, of which we have been on high end cruises and cruises that were low. This statement just to give you a level of experience.

We, my wife and I, arrived at the terminal at 11:30am and were on the ship 20 minutes later. We had spent the night before the cruise at the Renissance Hotel right on the harbor, 10 minutes from the port. We used the parking lot next to the terminal building. When we left the ship at the end of the cruise, we disembarked at 8:15am. Within 15 minutes had our luggage in our car and were right next to the interstate highway. Very easy and pain free.

Being early, we went to the Windjammer Cafe for lunch. It was crowded, but most cruises are the same the day of departure. It was manageable. We received our luggage before the muster drill. It was very cold that day, so no sail away party outdoors.

We took a junior suite. It looked like they had put new furniture in the More room with a flat screen tv. Easter took care of the room. It was clean at all times and the bed was comfortable. When she found out our likes, she made sure we never had to ask twice.

We divided our dinner meals. We spent every other night in Chop's Steakhouse and the other nights, took advantage of any time dining. We never had a hassle getting a table for two, which is our preference. The food was fine. For the price of the cruise the value is very good.

The shows were average for cruise ships. I liked that because we ate at 8:15pm to 8:30pm, we could go to the 7:00pm show and thus free our evenings to do other things on the ship. I'm a cigar smoker and the ship provided an area to smoke and have a nightcap. At no times did we smell smoke in the casino or any other room.

Unfortunately the weather was fair, so people spent more time indoors. A little crowded, but no lines for the elevators. Always found a seat in the library or computer room. There was a line at lunch in the formal dining area, but within 5 minutes we were seated.

The staff on the Enchantment of the Seas were very cordual, from the affable captain to the entire staff. We found this a relaxing cruise. We have two more cruises planned this year and we hope they nearly as nice as this one. Less

Cabin review: Enchantment of the Seas Junior Suite Deck 7 8132

We had a junior suite. It had a pipe running through the middle of the room, floor to ceiling. It had plenty of closet and storage space. Nice size flat screen tv. The sofa and chairs were comfortable. Would have liked to have a chair that opened to a chaise or a foot stool on the veranda.

Port and Shore Excursions

Again we chose to shop and then have lunch before returning to the ship.

We took a taxi to the Atlantis Resort. We came back to Nassua and had lunch and continued to shop.

Since we had been to the area a lot over the years and the weather wasn't great to play golf, we rented a car and drove to Orlando. Just about an hours drive. We had lunch and did some serious shopping.
