Copenhagen, Denmark: Cruise excursion $59.99 per person!! Rip of or what!! We took the City Sightseeing HO HO (Hop on Hop off) Bus which cost the equivalent of $21 as compared with almost $60 and what's more kids go half price! It's a great and beautiful city to visit

Warnemunde, Germany: Berlin excursion to include Prusian Palaces $374. We visited Warnemunde which is a great town just waliking distance from the port and go the flavour of Germany. There is a pleasant beach there too. 


Rostock (Warnemunde)

Tallinn, Estonia: Well this is a small town and we just took a cab (plenty where the ship docks) and paid the driver 20 euros to take us to the new town which is at a higher level. The driver suggested this route as it is a pleasant walk downhill to the old town and you can explore the whole of Tallinn on foot saving yourself $129 cruise excursion per person!! Rip off, honestly!!

St Petersburg: Well you kind of have no choice here but to either pre-arrange or go with the cruise as it going to hit you with a nuclear explosion in your wallet which ever way you go. We tried to pre-arrange with Del-rus and that was a waste of time. They are not that cheap, in fact there is very ittle difference in the price between these on-line opportunistic operators and the cruise. Because NCL docks for 2 days, Delrus only offered us the the sightseeing tour on the first day and we wanted this to be on the 2nd day . The 1st day we preferred to go the a Russian ballet in the evening and just enjoy the ship facilites during the day. Delrus was totally inflexible and so we arranged everything through NCL and the prices were a pleasant surprise, for once they were on par with the others or may be it's just because they all want to rip us off in St.P? 



St. Petersburg

Helsinki was straight forward. NCL charge $65 per person for the sight seeing. We got on the number 16 bus a short walk from the port at a cost of 2.5 euros each. You can also take the 14B bus into town. In Helsinkin you can use your map and just do a walking tour-it's not that big. When you come out of most of these ports there are tourist info centres or maps and usually the city sightseeing buses are visible so you don't really have to go with the cruise excursion and pay through the roof.

Nynaeshamn, Sweden: Here because of the tight time frame (you only have 9-10 hours on shore and with time travel and pressure to get back to the ship on time we just took the ship excursion with a guided tour. We spoke to some of the others and could have saved a packet by taking the bus and train. Again tour guides, maps and info together with the Sightseeing hop on hop off buses are all there outside the ship so don't worry. You can so it on your own.
