The Spirit is as older ship, showing signs of age but kept really clean and the food is excellent. We ate at both main dining rooms and Raffles. Didn't use the specialty restaurants. A balcony for us/window for kids(20/23yrs)kept very clean. our balcony cabin was located right in the entry way from elevators to all cabins, I was impressed with the fact that we didn't hear all the noise we expected. When we had a bad night with high wave action, the whole ship rocked but we were happy being towards the back of the ship. The kids had an ocean view room in the front and they really felt the motion but said the rooms was also quiet from most noise. Our cabin, which I left a message, the closet door stuck/off slider and the curtain was torn so that my foot got caught on it as I re-entered cabin.. The only real disappointment was the continued warnings about the ports in Belize and Guatemala - don't get off unless taking a tour or stay in the pier shops. Since weather was so cold and rainy we did not take ship scheduled tours and ventured out on own- no problems at either location. The men were approached about purchasing drugs, but not hassled when we shook our heads no. Very poverty ridden. I know those locations really need our money but one third of cruisers stayed on board while docked since the scare tactics worked. That is no fun for the cruisers and local people didn't get the benefit of the extra dollars. So go to other places! The daily events letters had the temperature for the day but if you asked the reception desk "for the next day", NO clear answers. Why not post what the weather channel says and help us out. Temp/wind chill/rain percentage. Since we weren't given answers, we did not book snorkeling for the kids in Cozumel. And It was the only good day to do so. But ... So,For this time of year, bring warm clothes. Poll taken: Costa Maya - cheap beer in Town (not pier) $2 taxi ride per person each way. Belize Mayan Tour was better than Cozumel, The Rio Dulce for Santo T.(take jacket/wear jeans) OR just plan to read, sleep in, book spa specials, lounge around (unfortunately inside for us)Prices for beer/wine $4up- mixed drinks $7up- pop$2, duty free alcohol great buys, they are delivered to your cabin last day of cruise.
