Just last weekend returned from a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Freedom of The Seas. I stayed in a Grand Suite which my wife and I really liked. Very nice sized and certainly larger and more comfortable than the Junior Suite we had booked on the Navigator of the Seas 2 years back. You also get a number of amenities that go with this room like a separate card for the concierge lounge and easy seating for shows as well as special lounge in the Windjammer so you do not have to wait for a seat. That being said overall the food was a major disappointment. I spoke with many other cruise members and they too voiced similar complaints. My waitress told me privately that there has been a fleet-wise change in the menu and that many people have complained about the calibre of the food. The meat was certainly a lesser cut. I guess this is RCL way of saving money. I did not eat at the speciality restaurants because was informed by other guests that their experience was lackluster. This was a surprising difference from our experience on the Navigator just 2 years back. My concern that since this is fleet-wise all their vessels have engaged in this cost cutting measure. I read another review and yes they do engage in shameless selling of products an example of the guy yelling fresh squeezed orange juice when you first walk into the Windjammer. There was a private picture taking meeting of Suite owners to have their pictures taken with the Captain. When we arrived we were immediately informed that he doesn't shake hands. Of course the picture of my family and I with the Captain was later available for $20 to purchase.
