I chose this cruise to just get away, unplug and relax. I have been cruising for 20+ years and mostly on RCCL. My experiences with them have always been fantastic.

However, This particular cruise was inundated with service and maintenance issues that put a very negative spin, on what should have been a normal great RCCL Experience.

The Empress is an old tired ship, and in dire need of mechanical and stateroom repairs.

Cabin Review

Cabin Interior

Cabin was smaller than most RCCL ships. AC was nonexistent and maintenance had 3 attempts to fix it, but failed miserably. Our stateroom was a sweat box for the entire cruise and no one even offered to relocate or accommodate us, with a cooler location.

The shower was barely large enough to stand in, let alone actually shower yourself.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

We did not get off ship this time, but there are many great places to check out in this port. Don't miss Carlos and Charlies and definitely don't miss coconuts bar and grill.

Costa Maya

Great port for shopping, and there is a little tiny taco place that makes the best tacos (pork or beef) that you will EVER put in your mouth, and they are very inexpensive!
