My neighbor and I decided to go on a four day cruise from 2-6 March 17. Both of our wives work and couldn't get off of work, so we went on our own. We chose the earliest check in from 11:30-12:30. As we arrived at the exit in Mobile, AL, the line was very long already trying to find a parking space. It took nearly 30 minutes to even get to the parking garage. We finally did, and unloaded our luggage and had a porter wheel them in. We left him a $5 tip for two large suitcases.

Getting through the line at customs took another 30 minutes or longer, so be prepared for a long wait. As we got on board, it was close to 1 pm, and we immediately went to the buffet line. The food theme of the day was Italian, and I'm Italian, and was expecting good Italian food. Not. The buffet food was mediocre. It was the only meal we ate at the buffet.

It was cool and windy before we left port. It was a good thing I wore Khaki pants and brought a light jacket. My advice to first time cruisers is to bring clothes for warm and cool weather. I can tell you that they keep the air conditioning inside the ship on the cool side.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4A

We chose an interior cabin because it was less money than an outside cabin with a window. I went with my neighbor, and he was afraid the interior cabin was going to be too small based on a picture on Carnival's website. He was complaining way too much before we left about the size of the room and that there wasn't a chair or table in there. I told him to stop his beotching, as I was in the Army and slept inside a tank, or on the outside of a tank that was much smaller and much less comfortable. As we entered our cabin for the first time, it was much bigger than it looked in the picture. We had two twin beds on different walls. There was also a chair and a table inside as well. There is a mirror and a curtain to give the illusion of having a window. The window has a shelf with a rail so you can put things on it. The TV is mounted on the wall and there is an additional shelf with blue towels and some magazines on it. You can remove the towels and magazines if you need additional room to put your personal stuff. The bathroom was spacious with a pretty decent sized shower. There are several closets with plenty of room to put your clothes and suitcase. The housekeeping staff is top notch. Our cabin was turned over several times a day with new towels and towel animals.

Mobile

This was embarktation for us.

Cozumel

I did not book an excursion. I rented a small car and tried to navigate and drive. Huge Mistake!! Taxi drivers will eat you for lunch!! You also have to watch out for scooters, bicyclists, walkers, runners, excursion vans, and Pedi-Cabs. I'm not much into water sports, so I didn't book an excursion. There was very little available after that.
