Mobile is a wonderful, friendly city to cruise out of and is a short 4-hour ride on the interstate from Atlanta. We arrived a day early to enjoy the food and hospitality of the city. Mardi Gras was fantastic. The Mobile History museum was fascinating and entertaining. People in Mobile are darn friendly.

I understand Mobile is a "small" cruise port, so my expectations weren't that high. However, traffic management and parking need a bit of organizational improvement. More directional signage around the cruise terminal would be a huge help. I understand that this isn't Carnival's issue, but is instead on the state port authority. Being able to pre-pay parking is very handy and saved quite a bit of waiting-in-line time.

Check-in and boarding were a breeze. Faster to the Fun is worth its weight in gold. 20 minutes after walking in, we were on board. Once on board, everything went very smoothly. Our cabin was ready and the Lido deck was well-stocked with food. The Fantasy didn't feel as crowded as some of the larger ships. The cruise director and her staff knew their stuff and things operated like clockwork.

Cabin 6B

This cabin was clean and well-maintained. The only complaint is that this cabin is immediately below a noisy section of the galley. Clanking and banging at odd hours of the night woke us up on the first night or two.

Mobile

Mardi Gras in Mobile is family-friendly and a whole lot of fun. Lots of fresh seafood to be had pretty much everywhere.
