This was our ninth Princess Cruise and our first on the new generation ships (Royal Princess). We had a very enjoyable cruise with friends, and especially enjoyed the islands of St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Antiqua, and St. Thomas/St. John. The Royal did not disappoint us in anyway in regard to excellent service throughout the ship. The ship's crew was always friendly, competent, and pleasant to talk with. We were surprised at some of the rudeness shown by fellow passengers--perhaps amplified by the number of passengers on board (3600 compared to 3000, for example, on the largest of the older ships). The Royal is very elegant and familiar, but with smaller cabins and only somewhat larger public areas. Some very good pluses include the new Pizza/Pasta restaurant on the 6th deck, an expanded casino, and improved food in the Horizon Grill. We enjoyed some of the entertainment--a great Comedian on the first night, and a terrific New Orleans Jazz group from the Ship's orchestra! The upgraded cabin TV system--with free movies was also very appreciated. No problems with getting onboard or off--great to offer transport for suitcases to home destination. Don't miss the historic fort on St. Kitts, or the garden on St. Lucia. Had fun with a rented car on Barbados--driving on the "other side" of the road. The smaller rooms are off-set by the affordable cruise price.

Walls not very sound proof. Cabin size ok--balcony limited to two. TV system great. Bathroom tub/shower great.
