Let me start by saying that overall we had a very enjoyable vacation ( hence the 4 rating). There were several things that kept this from being a 5 star experience. There had been a GI illness outbreak during the previous cruise and Celebrity took steps to try to ensure that it didn't occur again. The extra cleaning delayed boarding and it was quite chaotic. This was understandable. During the entire two week cruise, staff was very attentive to cleaning and disinfecting. This meant that there were no menus available in Cafe Baccio and wine lists were difficult to get in the main dining room. The buffet was served by the crew and it appeared to limit the selections a bit The Martini Bar normally had an ice bar but due to cleanliness concerns, the ice was never put in.

Although at times a bit annoying, the constant cleaning was probably necessary. We learned to exit our cabin with care in case the crew had recently washed the outer door down with a bleach solution.

The main dining room was extremely busy - particularly during the later dining hours. Although we had anytime dining, we were usually seated in the same area with the same waiters. They were very overworked but did a great job. Thank you Juan and Singil! We had a Premium Beverage Package and enjoy wine with dinner. This was a challenge since there appeared to be only one sommelier for our half of the dining room. The waiters were not able to give us wine lists or wine. The first night we insisted on receiving the wine list so that we could select something we would enjoy. This lead to delays and the wine we selected was then not available. After that we just told her red or white and the varietal we preferred. The quality of the wines were not great. In addition, we could not get a sparkling wine in Cellar Masters that was a part of the Premium package. The bar tender told us that we could pay extra for the least expensive sparkling wine on the list. Not acceptable. If you really like good wine, it may be better to skip the beverage packages and just purchase decent bottles of wine. Overall the available wines on the premium package were a huge disappointment. We enjoyed the Martini Bar. I Gedes in particular was great.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 1

Cabin C1

Our cabin was fine. It was a bit smaller inside than similar class cabins on other ships. The balcony was very large though and we enjoyed it when the weather permitted. The balcony is quite private as there is a service hallway on one side. Unfortunately on our last sea day when the weather was beautiful, the crew decided to paint the rails on the balcony and the paint fumes were quite strong so we could not use the balcony.
