We cruise for the holidays each year. This is our second trip on the Caribbean Princess. The last time they were sending her in for a refurbishing after the holiday cruise. They were leaving staff off at ports along the way, and closed and starting tearing the casino apart on our final full day at sea. They hung plastic sheeting and went to it.

So this time when I booked the ship I made sure that they were not following up the holiday cruise with a dry docking.

They need to refurbish the cabins. We were booked in a balcony cabin. The carpets need replaced. The air conditioner needs recharged. The beds are horrible! Even after having the cabin steward, (who was wonderful),add a "pillow top" to it! It has to have been the worst mattress we have ever had on a ship. What a shame.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BD

The cabin is showing signs of wear and is in need of a refurbishing.

The bed is the WORST. If you have back problems do not book this ship until they redo the cabins.

I have to say being almost right across from the laundry was great. No noise and handy.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Fantastic! Went on the Terra Cross tour. This is a great value! They load you up, give you a brief safety talk, strap you in and off you go. Out across fields and trails. Do not dress up. You will get muddy, and have a great time doing it! They cut open fresh coconuts for you along the way, bring you back to the starting point and after you hose off they feed you fried chicken, plantains, and rum. The guys that ran the tour were great!

San Juan

We have also been here many times and just wandered.

St. Thomas

We have been to St Thomas many times. We grabbed a cab to Red Hook and took the ferry to St John where we enjoyed lunch and a little shopping.
