Sail Date: Jan 2017

We chose this cruise because we it was the only time my family and I could coordinate our schedules. I was a little hesitant due to previous reviews I've read about the Freedom, but due to our schedule, it was our only option. Our cruise was delayed 2 days due to fog in Galveston (not Carnival's fault, & they refunded one day to everyone). Once on the ship, the rooms had not been finished- no beach towels, room service menus, the water we ordered & prepaid for had not been delivered (we didn't get it until the next evening after we asked about it), and the carpet had not been vacuumed (bobby pins & other debris on the floor from previous guest). The mini fridge had not been stocked, we didn't have robes, and no towel animals to welcome us aboard, not to mention the sail away party was cancelled, and every deck party for the subsequent days as well (not sure why, they never gave an explanation). Every. Single. One. The staff didn't seem happy or friendly, the cruise director seemed tired (the only time we heard from him was during the one deck event they did- the hairy chest competition), and the days were filled with sales pitches (way more than our previous cruise with Carnival). My daughters bathroom was never restocked (3 days passed before they came asking to borrow toilet paper & facial tissue because they were completely out w/no extra in their bathroom storage, probably due to the fact that the previous cruisers were delayed by fog & stuck on the ship, so they flipped the rooms in a hurry for us to board). The whole cruise was disappointing. On a side note, if you do not eat or pork, there will be no breakfast options for you other than eggs. Turkey bacon/sausage are readily available and affordable, but a cruise line only offers pork. That is not acceptable in 2017. Step up your game Carnival! You pay for a vacation and that's what I came expecting. My previous cruise was on the Carnival Magic & everything about it was awesome (except not having non-pork options). This one was such a let down.
