After hearing such great things about Viking cruises (having been on Holland America, Carnival, Royal Caribbean), my mom and I splurged on a Viking Ocean Cruise. It seemed great: trips included and nice ship. However, I would not recommend this cruise. My mom and I will be sticking with Holland America. I'll do Royal Caribbean with friends.

Entertainment: The 6 singers and 2 dancers were good, but the shows were mostly opera-type music. Other entertainment options each night was a violin player and guitar player. That was about it. No outside performers were brought in (so no comedians, no other shows...nothing). The night-club duo was good - but that was 3 45-min sets. There were no "extras" that you find on other cruises: no dance classes, no bingo, no family-trivia, no food and wine lectures.

Food: The food was good, but there is no food available after 9pm (except room service). They have "snacks" from 10pm-12am - which is split pea soup and dried out meat and bread every night.
