My husband and I, average age 62, took the West Indies cruise on the Star for the New Year. We are experienced cruisers with voyages on Princes, RCI, Celebrity, Azamara, Oceania, and Seabourn in Europe and the Caribbean.
In general, the cruise was very enjoyable, food very good, friendly staff, and beautiful ship. Our impression is that this cruise was somewhere between a Celebrity and Azamara experience. Some experiences were closer to a premium and some to mass market.
The person who would be happiest on this cruise wants a laid-back, quiet experience with good food, spirits, and limited additional charges. If you like a lot of ship sponsored activity, you will be disappointed. This ship is ideal if you can entertain yourself through conversations, reading, or listening to light music. The average age of our cruisers was between 70-75, American or British. Many excursions require good mobility and health. Most passengers are well traveled and highly educated.
Smaller than expected according to web description. Storage is tight. Décor is beautiful. Bathroom was perfect.
What a great tour guide for the land portion! Sea portion also very nice.
