It was a nice compromise for my DH and I. He never wants to do anything for New Years Eve and I don't want to sit at home or host a party. This turned out to be a very good idea.
We drove into Manhattan from NJ and parked on 43rd at 11th Ave for the week. This really worked out well and the people that work there were great.
There was very little direction both in the cruise terminal and then when boarding. We ended up going to find our room, which wasn't ready, so we went upstairs to check out the buffet on deck 15. By the time the ship left port we had a bit of food and our first glass of wine.
Nice and roomy for 2 people. Loved that the bed is near the balcony door (which we left it open during the night to listen to the waves during the night). Balcony is a little larger than average. The closet was ok, just enough hangers for us. Shelving above and on the side within closet to store clothes. Also, more storage under the t.v. and huge drawers under the pull out couch.
We rented a car and drove to Melbourne and Cocoa Beach. The car rental company has vans that pick you up at the ship port and drive you (5 minutes) to the car rental place of business.
We walked around the straw market and downtown area then enjoyed the ship while everyone was at Atlantis. The day turned out to be windy and a little chilly.
