Our group consisted of myself, my husband, our 3 children and my 82 yr mother. We had a wonderful time on a wonderful ship with a wonderful staff. I know some folks like to ding the Jade for being worn-out, etc, but we didn't see that at all. Maybe in a few spots the carpet was worn, but it wasn't threadbare or anything like that. Overall, we found the ship easy to navigate. We stayed on the 10th deck near the mid-ship elevators. What an ideal location! So easy to go up just a few flights to the pools, buffet and down a few to one of the main dining rooms. And sandwiched between 2 decks of nothing but sleeping berths, it was extremely quiet. We generally don't eat at the buffet much, we are more a sit down kind of family. But our location made it extremely easy to access the buffet area for water, tea, coffee, juice.

Also, wanted to note that I spoke with many different folks while on the cruise and the one consistent thing I heard time and time again was how 'excellent' the food on the Jade was. I've never personally had any issues with food or service on NCL ships (save perhaps the Sun) but I know food is one thing NCL often gets negative comments on. So I was pleasantly surprised when person after person said they were thrilled with the food on the Jade, some going so far as to say it was best they've had on any cruise on any other line.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you all to tears and if you'd like more specifics, just let me know. Either way, if you're thinking about cruising the Jade, I personally don't think you can go wrong.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Harvest Caye is beautiful. The sand is not soft, so I'd advise swim shoes. But the pool and the beach are lovely.

Roatan

Love Roatan and LOVE Little French Key. We didn't book thru NCL, we booked independently. My second visit to LFK and I wish I could live there!

Tampa

Tampa is a nice city, I lived there briefly. But we didn't have a good experience at the port. The port agent screwed up my husband and my son's names/birthdates. It was a big hassle to get his error fixed once on board. Then I heard someone else had a similar issue with the same agent.
