We have cruised Norwegian many times, but it will be a long time before we take Norwegian. The Jade is a little dated and I understand it is supposed to go in for a make over. We had a mini-suite on Deck 11. It was spacious and we had a decent size bathroom. The entertainment was good. I had read reviews before we left on our trip. A lot of folks thought the crew was not friendly. I found them to be polite. They all spoke to you because that was their job. There was no extra chit-chat. The happiest people on the ship were the "washy-washy" girls up in the buffet. We spoke with other folks and heard there was a moral problem on the ship and a big turn over of crew. I don't know if this was just on the Jade or through all their ships.

The food was not good. Quality has really gone down. No more lobster nights. If you want lobster it will cost you $24.99 in the main dining room. That's printed on their menu. Very tacky. If you aren't going to serve lobster just take it off completely and put it in one of the specialty restaurants. They no longer have shrimp cocktail. I did ask for it one night because I had seen someone else eating one . I was told by our server that it would take longer he would have to get permission from his supervisor. Why would you say that to a passenger. Service was slow. Our last night, it took them 45 minutes to serve us dinner. Everyone around us (who came in after us) were on dessert before we received our meal. One night we ordered friend chicken. I'm sure you've heard about the rubber chicken dinner. That's what we got - rubber chicken.

I was totally disappointed with the Buffet. There was so much Indian and Asian food you had to hunt for good old American food. Two days in a row I had sour milk. They used to have cookies in the buffet. It took us 2 days to find them in the serving are in the back of the ship. They tasted like flour. You can no longer bring bottled water or soft drinks on board. If you want a coke it's $3. For people with medical problems that have to use bottled water - you pay dearly. You can order coffee and pastry in the morning in your room. If you want anything more from room service, there is a charge. The common bathrooms were not kept very clean. There wasn't that many interesting activities during the day. We didn't take any excursions because we had been to these ports before. We did get off the ship and shopped at areas within the gates. Harvest Cay - Norwegian's new island is very nice.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

We had a mini-suite. It was spacious and had plenty of storage space. Pillows need to be replaced. The furniture is worn as is the carpet. Bathroom was a good size. Commode area, sink area and tub/shower.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

Shopped in compound area.

Cozumel

We got off ship and shopped in compound area.

Roatan

Shopped in compound area. Did walk outside the gates, but it is a very poor area and not much to see. Felt safer in the gated area.

Harvest Caye

Norwegian island. Very nice.
