We had been dreaming of this trip since our last cruise five years ago. I had done a lot of research and reading up on as much as a could on the Allure of the Seas. She is a jaw-dropping site at the pier as you arrive at Port Everglades. She's beautiful, inside and out out. The beds are super comfortable, every time I laid down on the bed, I fell asleep. Our cabin steward was great. The room has plenty of storage, we were able to store our luggage under the bed, there are shelves next to the bed, our bed was next to the balcony so we felt like there was a fair amount of space in the room. The bathroom is adequate as well, I didn't like the shower space, I hit my elbow in the shower every single shower.
Because of hurricane Matthew we were diverted away from our original itinerary, this isn't the cruise line's fault, but we were highly disappointed in the stops in San Juan Puerto Rico and Labadee Haiti. We had been looking forward to being in St. Thomas on our 20th Wedding anniversary, and the changed itinerary dashed those hopes.. Again... not blaming RCCL for this, just noting that those stops were not worth the cost of the cruise when you're expecting something so much better.
We were not at all impressed with the food in the MDR. For our anniversary night my mother in law treated us to dinner at Giovanni's Table, again a disappointment. On Friday we finally made our way to the Windjammer buffet, we had avoided this place all week because of the bad reviews I had read before the trip, but to be honest, this was the best food we had on the trip... best breakfast, best lunch, best dinner, best snacks... To each his own I suppose. Johnny Rockets had great food as well, even with the fee, it was worth it.
Plenty of storage, comfortable bed. Didn't like shower space.
