Beautiful ship, staff works hard, great food options and great shows. The company and captain made great and smart decisions to reverse intinerary to keep us safe from HURRICANE MATTHEW, but something has changed with Royal. After 9 RCCI cruises, and several on Celebrity, Princess and one Carnival, this is my first negative review. I will say that these complaints have been passed on and well received so maybe things will change for the better, who knows? The nickel and diming RC has become known for never bothered me more than this cruise. The idea that you pay more for specialty dining is fair, but then to come out with an additional charge on top of this to get the "really good" steak is just too much. The steaks we ordered tasted like salt and we are heavy salt users but this was over the top, the rest of the food was great and our waiters were awesome so we did not complain about the steaks and after 2 hours on the patio with the rising bar and the surrounding glass preventing any breeze we were ready to leave.

We had made reservations at Chops and found out 2 days later only because we checked with our head waiter how had made them, they had changed it to two hrs earlier and moved us outside because they had a "buy out". Well that not very welcoming, is it?

I splurged on Spa services this cruise, the ideal of the TV blaring in the RELAXATION room attempting to upsell more services is TOTALLY inappropriate and left a bad taste in my mouth, not to mention the attempt to hard sell their products after every service. On one particular service the "therapist" called my room 30 minutes before my apt time and told must husband they were waiting for me, when he found me and told me this, I ran to the spa thinking I had my time wrong, got there and then waited for 25 minutes for my service, Turned out she had a cancellation and wanted to get out early on a break but this was not the message conveyed. I normally get there 15 minutes early, there was no need for this call. The "therapist than took 15 minutes out of my service time to first look in the room, then run upstairs to search for a shower cap as a shower was a part of the service to get the salt off before a massage. The manager did make this right and was very professional.
