We are retired and take 2 or 3 Carnival cruises a year. We chose a Premium Vista Balcony cabin. This cabin was more expensive than the standard one and would appeal most to those who prefer to enjoy the outdoor space in a private setting. Smaller cabin space was a problem when we wanted to look at news reports on the TV and had only the bed to sit on. (We left port just as Hurricane Matthew was crossing Haiti.)
We were pleased with the cleanliness of the ship and the quality of food. The lido buffet had more than enough choices for every taste, the dining room selections were varied and included a specialty for every port of call. Over the years, we have seen variations in the quality and service from ship to ship. This cruise on the Magic was one of the best. The crew members we interacted with all went out of their way to make our journey pleasant.
Our daughter's family was on the same ship, and they enjoyed the WaterWorks. The teens really liked the Twister waterslide and Drain Pipe.
The cabin space was smaller than a standard balcony room. It didn't have a sofa or coffee table, and there was some open space behind the door that could be used to store a suitcase, walker or other bulky item. The balcony was very long, wrapping around with views of both the port side and the aft. It was about the same depth as other balconies, with the aft portion having more foot space under the angled glass railing. We were provided with 2 chaise lounges and 2 deck chairs with a small side table. The balcony is totally covered under the aft pool area.
We took the skyride to the free beach area. The beach was very crowded. It was impossible to swim as there were so many people in the water. In future I would opt for one of the private beach excursions.
Nice area around the port. Shopping, places to eat, a pool, and entertainment.
Embarkation process was smooth sailing.
We were advised to not go into Belize City for security reasons, so we stayed on ship.
There is a covered shopping area on the dock that you have to walk through. The shop keepers were very pushy and security had to look in purses and backpacks as you were exiting the area.
