Firstly, my partner and I booked this cruise prior to the Escape being launched based on the restaurant options that it. We had never been on a cruise prior to this to have nothing to compare it to. We then got engaged and decided to get married in St Thomas (the first port of call on the cruise) so invited our families to come with us meaning there was a total of 15 (including one 2 year old) of us for the week.

In the build up to the year and a half wait we had after we booked the cruise, we read a number of reviews on Cruise Critic saying that the ship was no good, there were long queues, there were high charges, there was no space in the pool, the list went on. Having nothing to compare this too, we bagan to think we had made a big mistake in deciding on the NCL Escape.

All I can say is when we arrived, all of the worry was for nothing!

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MX

We had 6 rooms in our party all of which were balcony rooms. However, as we were getting married we decided to go for a Mini-Suite. If I'm honest, although it was great, there was not a great deal of difference between our room and the balcony rooms that our families were in. There was a bigger bathroom but that was the only noticeable difference. Next time we are going for a balcony room.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

We got married in St Thomas so didn't take an planned excursions. The island looked beautiful and the weather was amazing. The beach where we got married (Secret Harbour) was pristine with soft white sand.

Tortola

The excursion was amazing. 6 of the 15 people in our party did this and included an open bus tour of the island which party music and as much 'holy water' (Rum) that we could drink. It included a stop at the beach and lunch for an hour or so. By the time we got back we were all dancing to the music and having a great time!
