Cabin: Family Ocean View Stateroom

We were a party of seven -- two parents/grandparents plus five young folks on a 9 day Mediterranean cruise. The Jewel of the Seas was refurbished in April, so it was in beautiful shape.

Royal Caribbean put five of us in their new Two Bedroom Family Suite -- Stateroom 1054 -- which has two bedrooms, a large living room with sleep sofa and can sleep 8 and has a curved 5 floor-to-ceiling windowpane panorama overlooking the sea and they gave us an inside stateroom for 2. We highly recommend their Two Bedroom Family Suite. It's a great value!

The room steward was to be commended, and we did with a, hopefully, generous tip.

Cabin Review

Family Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin FO

This is the best stateroom if you need a two bedroom stateroom. It has lots of room; over 600 square feet. It sleeps 8 and since we only slept 5, we had a ton of room. It has simply the best view of the sea or the ports being up on deck 10.

Port Reviews

Taormina (Messina)

We did this on our own. And since we were a party of 7, we broke up into smaller groups and explored the area and would later share our experiences when we returned to the ship. It multiplied our enjoyment of our visit to Messsina.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We flew into Rome and spent a day and two nights there, affording us some limited but very enjoyable time there. Since we were a group of 7, we broke up into smaller groups and explored Rome. Then we got together to share our experiences. It really multiplied our enjoyment of Rome. Note to self: pizza in Rome, with its thin crust, is far better and tastier than pizza back home.

Mykonos

We walked around the port city, bought some souveniers, had a snack -- with the largest baklavas portion ever! -- at a waterfront restaurant, and generally enjoyed the sun and breeze and the people. We did take the tender back and forth a couple of times, just for the fun of it.
