Cabin: Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

To begin with this was our 2nd Cruise the first was onboard the Freedom of the Seas in 2014. We chose the Oasis of the Seas for the destination and then the ship...As it turned out it was more about the destinations than the ship!

At first sight I was just slightly impressed because of the Apartment like appearance of the ship; Freedom of the Seas comes out on top for eye candy and the WOW factor. I will say Royal Caribbean gets an A+ for the improved check-in and embarkation experience we were on the ship in less than 30 minutes and off the ship a full 1.5 hours before expected. Lines moved fairly quickly.

Now the cabin....Ocean View room was noticeably smaller compared to the Ocean View room we had on the Freedom and was severely oversold and under delivered. Room steward was about the same on both ships; great job Derry! The overall decor of the ship was boring and tired in comparison. The Main Dining Room we were told was recently "remodeled" and I was left dumbfounded on who signed off on those designs because I truly believe they are in the wrong business. Now, for those who have traveled on other ships this is supposed to be a big wow factor and it this was a dud! From the first day my wife and I were like how does a ship from 2009 look so worn out already!

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Superior Ocean view cabin; aren't all the "OceanView" balconies superior? My wife and I were like what did we pay extra for and why is the cabin so much smaller than Freedom of the Seas! Very disappointed it was cramped and just blah! My expectations for this ship were so much higher than the reality of it. The pictures on the website are far better than the real thing.
