We went on this cruise with our niece, her husband and some of their friends and family, a total of 12 of us. We are Diamond members so we have cruised before and on other cruise lines as well. First time on Oasis of the Seas. The staff was the worse I have ever encountered on any cruise. The staff almost seemed like they were put out if you asked a question of them. The staff in Vintages were rude, did not want to wait on you and when they did, they never came back to see if you wanted anything else or not. The Windjammer was horrible, always a line to get a cup of coffee, most of the time you had to tell them the decanter was out. That is a change, use to someone always coming around with coffee, drinks, etc. The food in the dining room wasn't very good, most of the time the meals were cold and we weren't that far from the serving area. One good thing was the Prohibition Event, we had a great time that night, perhaps it helped that we had two other couples that were sitting with us, we dressed up and that was tons of fun. We didn't do excursions as we have been to the same ports a million times. Also, in San Juan we didn't get off the ship as we only had a few hours. Not a positive first time experience on Oasis. I think RCI needs to rethink some of these big ships. The venues seem much smaller so they can have larger open areas. Not a good thing. Also, the shops are too high dollar.
Our stateroom was great. I like the way they did the bathrooms, there is a little foot rest in the shower which is a very nice touch. Our stateroom attendant was AWESOME. That was the best part of our cruise was Dominic. If it wasn't for him, it would have been really a disappointment.
We took the water taxi and went into town to shop. The stores are more focused these days on junk and lots of jewelry stores, that want to rip you off. Unless you do the beach, I have no desire to go back
We arrived a day before, stayed at the Embassy, which we typically do. Had a great lunch at Duffys and met some really nice people at the happy hour at the hotel. Took the shuttle from the hotel to the Port.
Did get off the ship, went over and relaxed in the water. Had lunch and then tried to do some shopping. WOW, things have changed on Labadee, the venders really get in your face, more and more than they ever did before. This time, I actually got a security guard to go with me as I wanted to purchase something specific and I was happy we was able to help keep people away from me. I feel bad for them, but, come on, it is not pleasant.
