This was actually an ADRIATIC cruise, which we booked because we wanted to see the Adriatic Coast, and especially Croatia, but didn't want to spend a week at the destinations.
We were blown away by the incredible value of a Thomson Cruise. We had never cruised before, but always assumed it was a little cliche and camp, and probably full of blue rinse people quaffing cheap champagne, poor quality all-you-can-eat food and terrible cabaret entertainment.
In fact, this was far from the truth. The entertainment was of a high standard and exceptionally varied; ranging from high London Quality theatrical productions and musicals each night in the large theatre, a wide array of decent musicians playing music from most genres, a cabaret area, discos, themed and cabaret entertainment like Quiz and Karaoke, if you wanted it (we didn't), and a fantastic Kids' Club.
We booked into a suite, because there were three of us, and I have to say that it was LOVELY. Really a treat compared to the other rooms-which we used for a late check out because ours was unavailable.
I loved Split. I wish we had done a tour here rather than Koper to be honest. Very old, walled city. A lovely place to discover and explore alone too though.
This is a lovely city, plenty to see if you know how to find it. The old part of the city is lovely to explore, as is the fort on the hill overlooking the harbors. if you do visit the hilltop fortification, be sure to find the sailing club and have a drink there, as it's an idyllic little oasis of tranquility.
